Fill up the bustier

posted 4 months ago in Beehive

I had my first dress fitting over the week-end.

It needs some heming at the bottom and a bit on the side. Not too much work.

Now the seamstress could have worked on the bustier too, but she advised me that instead of touching the silk and the lace it would probably be better to wear something under to increase my cup size.

I actually do not know what lingerie I will be wearing under my dress because my MOH had decided it would be a surprise and she is bringing me French lingerie straight from home. I'm normally a 34B and she planned the lingerie accordingly.

So do any of you have an idea or a solution for me so that the front of my dress looks nicer? Any sort of push up pad that you can recommend and that I could add in my wedding bra?

How much space are you looking to fill?  Most padded bras will bring you up a cup size or so, more than that might look unnatural.  One cup size isn't much space in a dress, so unless it's just a bit loose, I'd really try to work with your seamstress to alter the dress.

And if your MOH is already bringing you lingerie in your size that you want to wear, how will you put more padding in a bra that's already your size?  Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't you need a bigger bra?

Darling. Meet your new best friend.

Wanna know how bikini and lingerie models look so full? That's how. No joke.

All you do is slide them into your cups and position them according to how you want your girls to lay - underneath for more lift, on the sides for a more pushed-together look, etc. Another cool thing about them is that you can actually insert them into the little space in your bra wear those tiny little pads go. (It takes some work, but you can get them in there.)

A word of caution - stay powdered around your breasts so you stay dry. They tend to slide around a bit when sweaty if you have them against your bare skin. This isn't a problem if you have them inserted in that little slot in your bra cups.

Caroline,

I went to check those out, and they look neat... did you see this review? "The texture was great -- chewy, much like that of a gummy bear -- but the taste was HORRIBLE. " Ahahaha

I would be worried about not having your fitting with the lingerie you plan to wear.  What if the boning shows through the dress?  Or the straps peak out?  Or the cups are too high and show?

I think generally you are supposed to have your undergarments to wear with the dress at the fitting just to be safe.

Yep - you really need to do your fittings with your undergarments.  So as lovely as the idea of surprise lingerie may be, you need to get your MOH to send it to you ASAP.  Or just plan on wearing the surprise lingerie for later that night - and something under your dress that works under your dress, and that you can wear for your fittings.

You can have your seamstress sew pads into the dress bodice, although again to position them correctly she is going to need to do it with the undergarments that you will be wearing.

Thank you all for your advice.

I'm contacting my MOH and asking her to send at least the bra/top ASAP. Hopefully I'll have it in time for the next fitting and it won't get lost over the Atlantic.

I have to guitily admit that I didn't think I would need to have them so bad while fitting the dress, but it does make sense.

I'll keep the idea of sewing pads inside the bodice in mind if the lingerie is not enough.

Any other suggestions?

Has anyone ever tried those silicone pads you just slip in your bra? Do they work in your regular size bra?

Mrs. Froggy, those silicone pads are the Take Outs I referred to above. I wear them all the time on photoshoots and for special events. You wear them in your regular size bra to push you up and out -- if you wear a larger bra they won't really do anything.
