Okay, so if you have been following my dilemma. I have two dresses that are both bought and paid for at this point. The first was Oleg Cassini for DB and I just couldnt get over the fact that it wasnt the dress for me. So I went shopping and fell in love with a dress that is more what I dreamt of as a little girl. I LOVE the second dress but my family thinks it is too much for a girl my age (30 - check my previous post) and my fiance accidentally saw the first dress and commented on how beautiful it is.
PLease help. I finally have pics of the first dress in my size and just got the pics of the second one. I might ad little tulle sleeves but not definite. Thanks - and last post about my dresses! :)
First dress Oleg Cassini
Second dress Sabelle
I like #1. #2 looks great on you, it's just a lot of dress. It is absolutely not too young though! 30 is young! Choose the one that YOU feel best in.
They both look beautiful on you!! Im not a personal fan of pick-ups, so I would choose the beautiful, lacey, Cassini. Though, if you feel like its not the dress for you, then by all means, wear the dress that you LOVE!! I absolutely dont think that it is too "young" of a dress for you!! To be honest, from the pictures, you look WAY happier in the Sabelle which makes you look quite a few years younger!! Beautiful!
i voted for the second dress (and you look super young in it btw) but without the tulle sleeves - the first dress is beautiful but im not loving the halter neckline in comparison (oh and i love the back of your #1 dress, that bow is dreamy)
The first thing I noticed is your SMILING in the second dress but not in the first! You look great in the first one, love tha material however not a halter fan. You also look great in the second and that's more my style dress and I love how happy you look in it.
I never realized there were dresses that reflected a certain age range. Hell I'm 40 and my dress is more of the poofy style like your second dress and I love it.
You love it, your fiance loves it...sounds like it's all figured out :)
You love the second dress, so that's it. You are not "too old" for it--that is ridiculous. They wore what they wanted at their weddings. If you don't wear what YOU want, you will always regret it. Go with the Sabelle (although I'm not a fan of the sleeves).
I personally prefer the first dress but I agree with other posters, you are grinning in the second dress!!! 30 is not old!!! you can wear whatever the heck you want :)
I voted for #2 because you are smiling in that dress! I think it looks grogeous on you. I also love #1! You can't go wrong with either. Choose what makes you feel happiest in.
2 w/ out the sleeves it is too cinderalla with them. And you do look happier in it. Plus your FI already saw #1 so surpirze for him :)
Second one is YOUR dress. You look beautiful, and i love it without the sleeves. 30 is the new 25! Go with your heart or you will regret it!
#2 for sure.. you're beaming! Besides, you say you LOVE it.. and, you don't want to regret not wearing it on your wedding day. You look HOT!
@Atalanta: Totally agree with this. #2 without the sleeves. And to be honest, if you are still torn, you could always ask your FI if you really can't make a decision. I know most people don't want them to see their dress until the day of, but if you really can't make a decision, just show him a pic of the dresses without you in them, and have him pick.
I bought a dress with pickups that I didn't totally love, and ended up getting a lace dress that I did love. I showed my husband the one with the pickups after thew edding, and he was so glad I wore the lace one instead, it was just more me. Still trying to sell the one with the pick ups...
they are both great. But I personally like #2 (without sleeves) on you. Plus it looks like from the pictures you feel better in #2 as well!
This one is a hard choose for me, because you LOVE the Sabelle. I just have to tell you how hot you look in the first one, and how special and unique it is. My vote is for the first one, especially since your fiance loves it!
Your smile says it all. You love the second one! :) And 30 is not in any way shape or form too old for that dress.
My personal taste has me leaning towards the first one, but it's not my dress. Choose the one you feel more comfortable in and that fits your personality best. Age, shmage, who cares? You're beautiful and you look great in both dresses.
I like dress 1 but that's just my personal style. Wear what you love, you look happy in dress 2-and you can never be too young for your dream dress. you are wearing it for you, and how you feel about what you're wearing can affect your day. Wear dress 2
i tried on dress 1 and it looked terrible on me! im so jealous of how good it looks on you!! i love it i voted for that one:-)
Thanks everyone.....I do love dress number one and if it wasn't a halter I probably would not have even looked for another. It is only the halter that bothers me.
And the only reason I was considering sleeves for the second is because I have this weird thing about the skin near my armpits....i call them arm pudgies. It is one of those things that I will look at in every picture no mater what and hate them...even if I am the only one who sees it. But I agree that it makes the dress way more cinderella-y. When i try the dress on in my size and it fits, if those go away I would consider not altering it in anyway.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions......Last night I was thinking I neither are for me. What is my problem!
@nonapkns: Could you get a seamstress to reconstruct #1 without the halter? IMO, the halter looks just stunning on you, but if you're not feeling it, I could see how adding some boning and making the sweetheart look out of #1 could just make it yours. It sounds like a daunting (and possibly pricey) task, but maybe this is what you're looking for!
I agree with PPs that you look happier in the second dress, and I'd nix the sleeves if you go with it. BTW, that is my new dream dress (if I hadn't already bought one that is similar but not as blingy) and I am 32. ;)
ETA: there are also a lot of bees who really dislike pickups, so I would guess that is going to skew the voting. Dress #1 style (lace + mermaid) is super popular right now. Pickups were super popular 5 years ago.
I think #1 i gorgeous and sophisticated! I'd definitely choose that one!
I think the second one is pretty -- though, like others, I'm not a fan of pick ups. Definitely not too young for you :-). If you choose that one I'd leave off the tulle sleeves, though. But my vote is still for the first one!
I like the Sabelle without sleeves. I bet FI wont remember the picture of you in it anyways.
You need to go with what you love, but since you asked our opinions.... I think you look elegant and gorgeous in the first one...even though you look mad :-) the second one makes it look like you're playing dress-up. If you do go with the second, nix the sleeves. Good luck!
p.s. per the comments above, i too am a no pick-up girl, so I'm skewed.
#1 hands down. It looks amazing on you! The second dress kinda looks like its a bunch of different dresses put together.
#1 looks stunning on you! Wow, I tried that dress on and looked absolutely terrible, but you have the EXACT shape to rock it! You look so sophisticated and glamourous, I LOVE it!
the first one is beautiful and looks great on you. even if you did not mention your age, i would still feel the same way about the second one -- not to offend, but i just really dont like it. the bottom looks like a scrunched up down comforter. the first one is so regal looking! very elegant! and makes your body look great too
I voted for 2 because despite what we all think, you're going to be the one wearing it and you look so much happier in the second one. Follow your heart. you won't regret it.
#2 looks gorgeous on you. I wouldn't do the shear sleeves but purchase a bolero that you can take on and off.
You don't look happy in #1. It's a beautiful dress, but your smile makes all the difference in #2. Even though it's a lot of dress, you look so happy in it! So I chose #2 because of your smile.
Your face and your post reveal your answer--#2 is the dress you love! It looks great on you and you should go for it. 30 is not "too old"!
Definitely go for #2. And I LOVE the tulle sleeves.
Plus, your betrothed has not seen it, so it will be a surprise.
You can really pull off either dress. I love the uniqueness of 1, but I say go with 2 because you look way more confident and happy in that one!
@nonapkns: Just so you know, i've always thought that that particular oleg cassini has the most amazing bead work but that NOBODY looks good in that dress, till I saw your post. You look amazing!!!
I love the second one on you but without the sleeves. The only problem is that it looks so heavy and hot. I would choose whichever is more comfortable.
I personally prefer the way #1 looks on you... BUT...
In the pics of you in #1 there is no smile... in the pics of you in #2... there's BIG happy smiles going on! And as you say, it's the sort of dress you dreamt of.
So I think you should follow YOUR heart and go with #2. 30 is YOUNG! Where I'm from, 30 is considered very young to get married *laughs* Most people aren't even thinking about it until mid 30's. If it's what you love, I think you'll feel beautiful in it REGARDLESS of what anyone else says.
