The last wedding we went to, their final dance was the YMCA with all of the guests that were left.   They started with the bride and groom, then each one brought someone into the middle, and on and on until everyone was in the middle!  I thought including everyone like that was cute.  If not, what about a little faster paced song for the two of you?  My FH and I are not good dancers so I don’t know if we would do that lol.  Cake cutting…something about being sweet? How sweet is it to be loved by you? I haven’t thought about those!

Not sure of our last dance song, but for cake cutting we are doing Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old with You”…I think it’s an adorable song!

@HeLovesDogs:  our cake cutting song is ‘if my heart was a house’ by owl city. our last dance song will probably be ‘we are young’ or the fight song from our university. 🙂

Our cake-cutting song was the theme song from Dexter. It was a nice inside joke for those who watch the TV show.

Our final song was “Sweet Caroline” – it was a fun song that had all the guests singing along to.

Our cake cutting song was “Stay With You” by John Legend.  Very sweet and romantic!  Do you have a particular song that has some meaning for you and your fiance, but isn’t as good for dancing?  If so, that might be a good choice for the cake cutting.

Our cake cutting song was Sweet Caroline and I had two final songs.  The first was Champagne Supernova (because I love the song and originally wanted it for our first dance but it was a little weird) and the final final song was Don’t Stop Believing.

I had a very detailed list.  I even selected songs to be played the 30 minutes before the wedding, the cocktail hour, and dinner.

Our cake cutting song is from the credits of Portal (“Still Alive” – which I will post below, it’s somewhat relevant and it mentions cake). M and I love video games, so it fits into our lifestyle (we are also into science – doctor and engineer). Throughout the game you were promised a tasty cake if you completed the course, however as you continue on you start seeing “the cake is a lie” scratched on the walls (which is now a videogame meme).

Here are the lyrics if anyone else is as nerdy as we are:

This was a triumph.
I’m making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction.
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.
I’m not even angry.
I’m being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
And we’re out of beta.
We’re releasing on time.
So I’m GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are still alive.
Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you’ll find someone else to help you.
Maybe Black Mesa
THAT WAS A JOKE.
HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
Anyway, this cake is great.
It’s so delicious and moist.
Look at me still talking
when there’s Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I’m not you.
I’ve experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive.
And believe me I am still alive.
I’m doing Science and I’m still alive.
I feel FANTASTIC and I’m still alive.
While you’re dying I’ll be still alive.
And when you’re dead I will be still alive.
STILL ALIVE

Our last song is “Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing.  I haven’t solidified the cake cutting song, but I’m considering “James (Hold the Ladder Steady)” by Sue Thompson.  It’s more of a funny since FI’s name is James and it’s about a girl running off with her guy and eloping (not our story) but still about marriage.

We decided we were going to do a little loving cake smash in each others faces, so we went with “hit me with your best shot”. Our last dance song wasn’t set so at the request of the best man, we wound up dancing to jagged edge “let’s get married”… It was definitely a fun one!

@HeLovesDogs:  our cake cutting song was “You” by Chris Young (one of our favorite country songs) and our last song was Michael Buble’s version of “Save the Last Dance for Me.” It’s sort of slow but has enough energy that people love to dance to it – pretty much all of the couples danced for that last song, and I loved it. Perfect ending!!

I’m not sure what our last song will be – but, I know we are going to cut the cake to “When I’m 64” by the Beatles.  Laughing

@HeLovesDogs:  Our cake song will be sweetest love by robin thicke. I am not sure what are last song will be. The music is one that has been bothering me, because I am OCD about music, my fiance is a music snob and I want him to be happy, while also pleasing our guests lol

I don’t remember what was playing when we cut the cake – I’ve never even thought about it, maybe I’m weird!

Our last song was Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis. it was actually quite an emotional moment.
