@risingsun: Great! I'm nervous people will complain the minute they hear "no meat". I just want the opinions of meat eaters to see if this ounds like enough tasty food.
I'm going show my SO. I want that food at our wedding. Thanks for inspiring me. Yum!
That looks and sounds awesome! I'm a vegetarian, but I know none of my meat eating friends would complain about that. Yum!
@Mrs. Bear Cheese Pie: Can I come to your wedding? LOL. I too am vegetarian and those foods are pretty much all my faves. Sounds delicious!
Dear OP,
Please tell me the date, time, and location of your wedding. I need to mark it on my calendar because that food looks DELICIOUS (and I know brides NEVER have any issues with random people inviting themselves to their weddings, so you will, of course, be happy to have me). I can't wait! I'm already drooling.
Much love,
GreenEyedMoon
I'm a BIG meat eater, and I usually order the vegetarian meal at banquets/weddings etc... anyway. It's typically fresher, looks more appetizing and arrives HOT since there's only one LOL.
I wouldn't miss meat at all with this menu! Great job :)
Everything looks and sounds delicious! I doubt even meat-eaters will really notice the lack of meat with all the hearty veggies and pasta!
Yay! Y'all made me feel way better about this. I think it sounds good, but I like all this stuff. It makes me feel immensely better that meat eaters think it sounds good too. Now I'm really excited.
Thanks so much for the feedback, everybody!
<3 this. My FI and I are vegan and were considering a gourmet hamburger food truck (i know, what you're thinking lol). The truck would have a vegan option. The more I think about the less I am on board with it. So, I just called an Italian place to see what they could whip up for us :).
@trixiesrockets: I debated, heavily, on having a meat option, but the more I thought about it, the less I liked it. I haven't eaten meat in over 10 years. It's no longer appealing to me, and the smell really bothers me. I finally decided on no meat. It sounds a little self-centered to say, but every wedding I've been to, never has anything for me to eat. I don't complain because I can go one meal with snack food and eat later when I get home. I figure if people love us enough, they can go one meal without meat and not complain as well. Hopefully. I hate to be like "it's our day, no meat!", but, well...it's our day...no meat! Haha. That being said, I'm worried people will complain, and even more worried that people will still be hungry after eating. I want happy, full guests.
I don't think meat eaters will miss anything at all at your wedding! You have a great variety - the appetizers have tons of different flavors and textures: warm, cold, smooth, crispy, tangy, sweet. All yum.
And Pasta Bar? Is there really anything more that needs to be said?
@Mrs. Bear Cheese Pie: I think pasta is a filling meal. That is why i am considering itlaian food at my wedding. It is hard to please everyone, but I really would like too. lol Also, my FI is against the idea of serving meat. He thought it was so wrong to even consider the food truck. I was just trying to think outside the box and find something for everyone. Can you tell I am a teacher? lol
You've got awesome variety, and it all sounds so yummy! As someone who is off/on vegetarian, I would find it divine... but so would my husband who is an avid meat eater! You've got something for everybody in there!
I think it sounds great, i'd eat all of it! well, except for the bruschetta as it has pesto, and im now terrified of anything with pine nuts after i got pine mouth. bleugh!
but everything else sounds lovely
I think most meat eaters will be satisfied. I personally don't eat gluten/wheat or any other grains, so although I could eat at your reception, I would be very hungry. I'm probably in the minority though. Sounds good!
@BlondeMissMolly: I know none of my guests are allergic to wheat/gluten, but I'm not sure about his. I tried to take that into consideration though, really.
@Mrs. Bear Cheese Pie: yeah if you can rule out gluten issues then you are probably fine!
@Mrs. Bear Cheese Pie: I don't eat meat, but you post is making me HUNGRY!!! Nom nom nom nom
@newname_99: I've heard of that!! Where everything starts to taste like metal?
MMM. As a self proclaimed carnivore, I would be happy at this meal. Pasta is filling without needing meat so I think it sounds great!!
Pasta, salds and breads with veg/fruit skewers are VERY good choices. I think the only reason people would complain about a vegetarian meal was if they were concerned that the food might be weird (apparently a lot of people think we all eat tofu and brussel sprouts for each meal lol) OR they feel like you're trying to force your lifestyle on them (which it doesn't sound like, but it seems we have a reputation for being pushy? Truthfully i've never tried to talk anyone into being a vegetarian and I still cook meat for others, but it seems to me that every second meat eater tells me I need to eat it too! Drives me nuts).
I wouldn't even announce that there will be no meat, it's a non-issue because your food sounds FABULOUS and anyone who MUST eat meat every day is actually very unhealthy. I bet it all tastes great!
@hfwildcat: yes! it lasted 7-9 days and everything tasted like absolute garbage, really disgusting. it honestly put me off eating anything the whole time. They used to be one of my fave snacks and now i wont go near them
Perfect. and you know what- if you don't say "no meat," people may not know!
I'm a big meat eater, and that looks and sounds delicious. I figure that a wedding is supposed to be about the couple. Their wedding, their food. I'm not paying for it, so I don't complain. :)
Also... can I come to your wedding? Those food pictures look so good!
@newname_99: That stinks :( I've felt it coming on before, I LOVE pine nut hummas, but if I feel it coming I stop eating it. I guess I'm lucky that it doesn't come on super strong like it does for some.
Yum, sounds amazing! I can see meat eaters being more satisfied with a veggie baked pasta like ziti or lasagna but anyone who complains about (delicious-sounding) PASTA BAR (come on!!!) is a jerk in my eyes.
I'm a really picky eater, and I would be totally happy at your wedding! Nice work on picking a menu!
That all looks so yummy! I wish I could have a vegetarian wedding but I've been overruled. You did such a good job! The appetizers especially look amazing.
My whole family are vegetarians so we would love this!
was this terribly expensive or inexpensive because it is meat free?
I doubt anybody will go home hungry but my initial reaction is carb overload with all the pasta and beer. Thank goodness I love carbs though!
This sounds great, but I'd just warn you (and you probably know this already) but a lot of parmesan is not vegetarian. Perhaps something you'd like to double-check with your caterers? Unless you're not that strict a veggie. I'd also reiterate what a couple of other people have said about wheat/gluten/carb overload. A corn/quinoa/rice based dish would be gluten-free and offer a little more variety. But otherwise I'd yum it up, and I'm a meat-eater
I think it sounds amazing and you are making me think about doing pasta now too lol!

We had our tasting a few weeks back, and oh my. It was all so delicious! I'm so excited to serve this food at our wedding next year, but since most people we know are heavy meat eaters, I wanted your opinion on if this sounds good. We wanted people to have filling food [every wedding I attend, all I can eat is veggies and dip, fruit, and cheese]. We also wanted simple foods everybody knows; not fancy dishes with ingredients nobody's heard of before. Let me know what you think:
Appetizers:
Fresh fruit skewers with a honey lime glaze [these were SO good]
Bruschetta topped with pesto, roasted red pepper and parmesan AND bruschetta topped with chopped tomato, basil, and mozarella
Creamy roasted tomato soup sips topped with a dollop of cream and herbs
Dinner:
Pasta bar with tri colored rotini and penne with choice of either marinara, alfredo, or oil and garlic with a hint of red chili flakes
Pasta bar will also have grilled mediterranean vegetables
Salad bar with three types of salad: Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, house made croutons and parmesan cheese
I don't have the descriptions for these since we just made the revisions but also a Greek salad and a sort of cole slaw-ish cabbage salad
There's also an assortment of breads like garlic bread, herbed focaccia, rolls, and whole wheat knots
We're having the reception at a brewery so there will be about six different kinds of beers. We're providing red and white wine along with champange, and the caterer is providing sweet/unsweet tea and a pink wedding punch [it has cranberry juice, ginger ale, and some other fruit juices- I don't remember exactly now].
How does all of this sound to everyone who eats meat? Sound passable? Below are some pictures from our tasting.
