I'm going to finalize my menu on Friday, but was wondering if there was anything in particular I should ask questions about.  I'm scheduled for a tasting AFTER i've finalized the menu (long story) and can change the items if I find it is not to my liking, but was wondering if anyone's had experience in this area, what kind of things should I be asking about?

Always ask about extra costs, such as cake cutting and service, and double check to see if gratuity and tax are included in the contract.  Other items you can discuss are type of placesettings they have available and extra costs of upgrades or extra items, such as a wine glass on each table or menu cards.  Some caterers will also charge extra for toasting glasses filled with champagne for all guests, so if this is something you want, make sure it's included.

Since you're there to finalize the menu, discuss when the cut off date is for you to make changes, and how they plan on estimating costs and keeping track of balances, etc.  Lastly, ask about their service, will be ordering from your set menu, or will you need a count of entrees before hand, and how they handle it - ie, should you place a colored sticker on placecards or give them a preplanned seating arrangement with guests' entree choices.
