Just a word of warning. My bottom layer was supposed to be white & she didn't keep the cake cold enough, so in the heat, it collapsed on itself... it was a disaster. Make sure your baker can make the bottom layer dense enough to support it, and that they keep it cold enough!
Congrats! Sounds delish! Ours is 1: Strawberry w/ cream cheese, 2:red velvet w/ cream cheese 3: white w/ raspberry
@Ella1978: Thanks, I can't remember the exact flavoring but it was def. a dense cake, it wasn't plain white, I just can't remember the exact flavor. It wasn't overly almond or anything...

Our cake will basically be a surprise! My mom does wedding cakes and I told her she could do whatever she wants :) We'll pick the flavors though! So we're in a very similar situation!

So, the wife of our groomsmen... and mother to our flowergirl, is an amazing "cake designer." I've had many of my clients order her cakes, and they always look amazing. Not only that, but she actually MAKES the cake batter from scratch... where most bakeries actually just use boxed.
So, we went over last night, and finally had our tastings. I'm so excited! Our cake is nuts!
The flavors:
Bottom layer - basic cake, raspberry buttercream filling.
Second layer - Almond cake with regular buttercream filling
Third layer - Chocolate / Chocolate Chip cake with a mocha filling (in honor of my grandma)
Top layer - Almond with raspberry buttercream.
The Design:
No Idea! We couldn't decide what we wanted, and I've seen so many beautiful cakes, how can we really say what we want! lol. We told her to have fun, and surprise us!
Has anyone else ever had a surprise cake!? I'm actually really excited about it! I feel like having to make decisions on "everything" else I know exactly what to expect, so I'm excited that we'll get at least a little surprise!
