So pretty! You look beautiful and your dress is quite lovely! I'm glad your seamstress was awesome :)
I like You look gorgeous!! It does slim your mid section...and it's lace up so you can always pull it in extra tight :)
You look so beautiful! I am having dress envy big time! How are you wearing your hair? I think if it was up you could see the pretty straps better.
that dress is very pretty and the back is gorgeous
Thanks all of you guys :)
@BecomingMrsWoods - that it is! I have a medical condition that makes it easy to gain weight and hard to lose so I constantly look a few months preggz, even when I'm not..so this dress SO hides that.. i love it! ANd it could be laced a bit tighter than it is in these pics, but not by much if I want to breathe.
@hoosierbee - I'm going to be wearing it up with a fingertip veil, so the straps will be easier to see (the veil may come off during the reception depending on if it can easily be detached from my hair).
That dress is made for you (the cap sleeves are perfect!). Having your hair up will be lovely.
Look at that slender V in the back lacing! GAWRGEOUS! You look fabulous in it. LOVE the ruching in the middle - looks like an hour-glass.
You look great in that dress! I like the crossover detail in the front.
Also, we're both from Calgary - who is your seamstress?
@bug-in-a-rug - My seamstress is Lil from Liliana's Knitwear (in Kensington). She's the only one I could find any reviews on anywhere, and so I went with her.
Pretty, pretty, pretty! Did it come with those straps, or were they added later? Either way ... great dress. You look beautiful!
It came with the detachable straps, but they were too long and not meant to be cap sleeves .. So that was a change.
Yay! She's the one I'm going to as well for the same reason. She sounds really friendly over the phone.
Um, I forgot to ask her approximately how much my dress would cost to alter and now feel weird to phone her and ask when I already have an appointment. Would it be possible for you to let me know how much you paid for yours and what you had done?
I love your dress, it is very flattering! It gives you that "va va voom" if you know what I mean! It seems like its very tough to find a dress if you aren't a size four, and this dress is so pretty I hope you feel like a princess!
@bug For Lils pricing .. To get the shoulder straps moved, French bustle and to even the bottom out is $150. To change length and take it in would have cost me about $100 more, depending on how detailed the dress is, so fairly reasonable!!
@what2bee Yeah, most dresses seem to be made for the size 4 people, but I found some gorgeous dresses out there and had to choose between a couple, but this definitely made me look and feel GOOD!!
congrats! glad you had a good experience! you look great! :D
Wow, those prices are not bad at all.
Thanks a lot for the info, wulfin! I really appreciate it.

I had my first fitting today and my seamstress is absolutely AMAZING. She spent the time with us to make sure we understood how to properly lace the back of the dress up (the girls at the bridal shop showed us the wrong way!) and with it laced up properly, several of the alterations I thought would need weren't necessary after all!! The dress fits like a glove and is like it was MADE for me (except for some shoulder straps that were too long...).
I am super excited and love how the dress looks. Now, I'm not a skinny-minny like many of the girls here (I'm a street size 16), but I find this dress accents the curves I've got and actually has a slimming effect and hides my problem areas. So I'm happy.
So..with that warning.. onto the dress pics! Unfortunately I don't have one with the train down, only with it bustled and without showing the detailing on it.. Ah well!
