(2 poll questions, please vote twice!!) so as some of you know, I have been on a dress journey since March. It started with me buying a dress after 1 day of dress shopping and immediately having dress regret. Then I decided to look again and I have been very paranoid about buying a dress because I dont want to make the same mistake.
Well after visiting 10+ shops and trying 50+ dresses I finally found a dress where I actually felt “this is the one!” I even got a little emotional in it (and im usually not emotional like that) and I loved the way I felt in it- I felt beautiful, bride-like, and appropriate for my venue (destination wedding, but not on sand). The dress was a sample sale dress because it was discontinued. It was the only one- so I panicked and thought “I dont want this dress to be sold and I am sure its the one and I’m so sick of dress shopping”- so I bought it- just like that, the same day (today)!!
Well now Im sitting here and I’m afraid im psyching myself out and forcing these thoughts “what if you end up not liking it anymore, what if you wake up tomorrow and have dress regret again?? what if im an idiot for spontaneously buying another dress without giving it a few days??”
Anyways, my question is-
What do you guys think of the dress?
Is it normal to drive yourself this crazy over dress shopping?
Do you think I should go ahead and sell the first dress I purchased or just go ahead and keep it and wear it for the reception?
Anyways, here are the pics (Pronovias Basilea):
And this is a side-by-side with the original dress I purchased, which I hadn’t sold yet. I just didn’t feel very bride-like in it. It felt too laid back and kind of prom-like and underwhelming.

I love the new one, I wouldn’t change out of that one for the other one, no way! People will be like ” hey, put the pretty dress back on!!” the new one is simply gorgeous.

I agree with FortiesFlare. Your new dress is absolutely stunning, I would not change from that one in to the other dress! I would sell it and wear your new one the entire time!

Your new dress is amazing!! I bought my first dress, had regret, and then bought a second gown (also pronovias). I LOVEEEE my second gown and hate my first one!! You made the right choice with the 2nd gown By far!

I love that shop where you tried on this dress! Sorry – totally off topic and random, but they’re so sweet there and the dresses are gorgeous!!
Your second dress is just fabulous!! I wouldn’t change out of that dress into the other – I just don’t think the first can hold a candle to that dress! Also, I’m not a fan of changing dresses in general for brides – I think it’s a bit of a waste of time!
Congrats on finding a beautiful dress!

@SleepyBee: When I started scrolling through the pictures I was thinking “Oh no, I hope this isn’t her old dress that she hates- its so beautiful!” Luckily it was your new one! It is stunning. Seriously. It is different and floaty and ethereal like. I love the beading and I’m not a huge beading fan. I love the sweep bustle in the back. I like everything about it. It is a seriously great dress, you did well.
And yes it is totally normal to drive yourself this crazy– at least it was for me. I had a dress I bought online as a sample (a beautiful pronovias), sold it after developing dress regret (took me 6 months and a 70% loss to get rid of it), bought ANOTHER sample dress (one that was almost $4,000!!!!) and still never got the teary eyed moment. My new dress is as close as I’ve ever come to having that moment, and I’ve tried on probably 150+ dresses.
It’s werd because I’m a very emotional person, and very girly, and I love dresses. But I just foudn so many that I DID like, even loved. It was hard to find one that stood out. I felt like all of the dresses were starting to look alike though, so I am so glad my dress is different than every other mermaid satin ruffly thing you see.
Yours is different and wonderful and you made the right choice.

Love the new dress! I’ve never had dress regret myself, but think this new dress is perfect for you! Much more elegant than your original.

@Miss Leopard: Thank you so much for sharing your story!! That makes me feel so much better! My friends have been saying I am crazy and I will never be satisfied with any dress. Everyone really liked my 1st dress, but they would always say “its perfect for the beach”…but im not getting married on the beach and I just didn’t feel “WOW” in it. Im glad I’m not the only one going nuts over “The Dress” lol

@SleepyBee: I’m in the minority, but I do not like the new one at all. Its got way too much going on for me. But if you like it, then go for it.

New one is drop dead stunning!! Don’t change for the old one, it does absolutely nothing for you. The first dress deserves to be on display all night long!!!
