- Wedding: September 2013 - The Skinner Barn
So I’m just about 3 months out from my wedding and I’m trying to get as much done as I can right now. One thing I’ve been stressing out about is a gift for my groom. I knew that I wanted to get him a knife but he’s in the military and he hunts so he’s very particular about his knives. I didn’t want to ask him outright what he wanted so I had to get a little sneaky. I told him that my friend wanted to get his Marine buddy a knife as a gift but didn’t know much about knives. I said that I know he also hunts so to keep that in mind. My lovely fiance was very helpful lol.
My fiance suggested that I (/my friend lol) consider getting a custom Buck knife. The Buck company has been around for nearly a century and many of their models are considered “classics” by knife collectors. My fiance even has a Buck knife that belonged to his grandfather. I was sold. I immediately went onto the Buck website and found that I could create a really classic looking knife with premium materials (very strong steel blade, fine wood handle) and an engraved blade for just under $100 with free shipping. This is what I ended up with
I am absolutely thrilled. It’s simple and masculine and is guaranteed to stand the test of time. I decided to have his name and rank on the blade because he had mentioned to me a while back that it was something he wanted as a momento of his service. I have given him a lot of gifts that are related to our relationship and I wanted him to have something that was just about him. It’s not like he’ll forget that this was a gift I gave him on his wedding day. My hope is that one day he can pass it down to our children, as both a momento of his military service and a reminder of our marriage. I can’t wait to get it in the mail. Unfortunately I have to wait 4-6 weeks 🙁
Have you thought about what you might get your groom as a wedding day gift?
