i just got one of the most beautiful dresses i came across in my shopping experience – the WATTERS LASARA. when i tried it on (in at least 3-4 sizes bigger), it seemed to be “the one,” although nothing like i ever expected to buy – it had a train, was slightly “big” and more “princessy” than i ever imagined (or wanted). but i fell in love =) (just fyi, i always wanted a simple but embellished “non-wedding” dress)
it was delivered this morning at work and could NOT WAIT to try it on. i finally did tonight and…disappointment!!! that’s all i can say! can you believe it??? the dress is still gorgeous but on me…it just doesn’t make sense. sorry, i still haven’t taken pics but will post asap to get your opinions…its just too big for my 5’1″ frame, in the” overwhelming-on-your-petite-body-what-were-you-thinking” kind of way.
right now i am just sad . i have about 3 week until my wedding and really, no choice but to make do with what i have. i don’t have any more time or funds to get another dress. i am just…sad.

You know, my bridesmaid is the typical 5’1″ tiny cheerleader. She had a giant tulle ballgown and she pulled it off brilliantly! It looked AMAZING! It was totally different than what she thought she wanted but she totally rocked it! I bet you can do the same too 🙂
Can’t wait to see pics!

You probably just feel that way because it needs to be altered. I’m the same height as you and I always look ridiculous until i haver dresses altered.
Don’t worry. Just remember the reason you bought the dress in the first place, b/c you felt like it was the one you should be walking down the aisle toward your FI in.

I am 5′ and 1 1/2″, so I know how you feel, but I ended up with a princessy ballgown and the biggest crinoline that I could find. I love my gown. And I have been told that I look beautiful in it. Maybe try a different crinoline with it to make it fuller or less full. I am sure that once you have it fitted, it will look lovely on you.

I bet you look gorgeous in it! With 3 weeks until your big day, the stress is probably getting to you. My photographer had pictures posted a few weeks ago of a bride who was petite with a large ball gown and she looked amazingly beautiful, which is how you will look too. I’m with the other bees who posted that it could just be a matter of alterations or crinoline adjustments!
