@flutiecutie:   Florist?  And where will you be having the dress fittings?

@flutiecutie:   You are welcome!   What about music?  Are you having musicians or a DJ?   Will the caterer do the cake for you?  You might be able to do a cake tasting.

DJ or band, transportation, videographer, hair salon/make-up artist, and tuxedo rental (if your groomsmen will be wearing them.)

I’m doing the same thing! I’m getting married in Cleveland in July ’15 and I’m planning from Missouri! Thumbtack.com has been a great help when it comes to finding djs, photographers, etc.–you plug in your information and vendors contact you if they fit your parameters!

My FMIL is there now, so I’m using her to do a lot of the meeting and scouting for DJs. Maybe have your SIL scout DJs or caterers to see what they’re like during events. My venue offered to let me know when future weddings were taking place there so I (or my FMIL) could stop in realy quick to see what it was like. They even offered to make a plate so we could taste the food at the event (behind the scenes, of course!).  Maybe inquire about something like that to see what services you like/don’t like?
