Traditionally, I’m already married, the dowry has been paid and we’ve done all the traditional ceremonies. What is left for us to do is the western (white) wedding.
This ring is not an E-Ring, its part of a set for my wedding ring. This is definitely not a traditional ring for a black south african woman, a cluster would be more traditional. But I don’t like clusters, I tried all kinds and Its just not for me. I picked this solitaire, I absolutely love it. I can’t wait to wear it Full time with the band that I eventually choose. Its a 0.30 ctw, 4 claw(prong) solitaire, and now I know what you ladies mean when you say delicate.

sebolelo1: Congratulations!! South African bride here as well!!
Your ring is very beautiful!! I love its simplicity!! I cant wait to see it with the band. Do you wear it full time already or you just wore it to take a selfie?
If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your wedding date and in which part of South Africa are you based?
I wish you all the best on your marriage. And yes you are a married woman already. Culturally I’ve been married since October 2011 but we will only have all our weddings in October this year!! In five weeks time actually!! I can’t believe it!!

Thanks beautiful bees. im soo glad I didn’t decide to go with the traditional cluster. Just trying them on made me soo Miserable, I can’t imagine what the rest of my life would have been like.
Ill definitely post it as soon as I get it. I’m looking at a few options. There is this nice one on the american swiss website. Its a black diamond band. I’m actually looking to get a sapphire band burt I can’t seem to find a ready made one, and getting it made is not an option coz I’m on such a tight budget. I hope I find it, or ill get the black diamond band.
Hi Keke. 🙂 Nice to meet you. Congratulation! I don’t wear it, ill wear it when we do the wedding in october. I’m in Johannesburg on the east rand. I’m still shopping for a band. Have you picked your ring? Post a pic if you have please.

sebolelo1: It’s gorgeous!! And I love hearing about traditions in other cultures. Super cool! So you will wear this when you have the western wedding?? When will that be?

sebolelo1: If you are on a tight budget, you should actually really consider getting it custom made. Fiance and I looked around quite a bit at all the Mall shops (e.g American Swiss, Browns, NWJ etc.) and we got a much better deal at a local jeweler. The more we researched, the more we realised the little known fact that local jewelers are much cheaper than chain stores in SA
Seeing that you are on the east rand, maybe you can take a drive one Saturday to Heidelberg to visit a shop called Diamante en Goud. They are very good. Had my e-ring made there, and will also have my wedding ring made there.
