I’m on here all the time, but I just finally registered. I’m marrying my high school sweetheart, how awesome is that? He’s Filipino and we’re incorporating those traditions into our wedding. Although we already had to change one because it involves possible dress damage. Guests pin money to bride’s gown as a gift, but all I could think of was horribly snagged duchesse satin! So my MIL to be came up the idea of pinning the bills to my veil instead. Genius. Is anyone else combining different cultures in their wedding?

Yeah we are working in some Czech traditions. So it sould be fun! Welcome to the bees! I love the idea of pinning it to the veil and not your dress. I am sure it wouldn’t have been pretty if your dress would have been pinned.

Miss Green, I might be your opposite location wise — living in Virginia, marrying in NJ (yes, Jersey is no NYC, but we like to pretend the skyline is ours )
FI and I are both American, though the dollar dance is the norm where he’s from. It’s where people pay money (like a dollar), get a shot from a bridesmaid, then dance with the bride or the groom for a bit. I’m not sure what my side of the family will make of it, but they love dancing and drinks, so I think it will go okay, haha.

My fiance is part hispanic and we’re incorporating some of his traditions and culture into our wedding and reception, also. We actually found a reception venue that is allowing us to bring in several spanish dishes and of course we’ll have some latin music. My fiance has also expressed interest in "Mexican wedding coins", which take the place of a unity candle during the ceremony.

My FI is half Irish and half Mexican. I am a Euro-Mutt: French, Italian, German, Irish. As you can imagine, this is a very Catholic wedding. But I have lots of Jewish friends, new age hippy friends, atheists, agnostics, and yogi’s to spice it up.
Someone asked me the theme of my wedding so I said: South of France with a touch of Mexico.
My FMIL asked me pleadingly if we could have a "touch of Mexico." Of course! We are having a salsa band at the French Cottage with French food. C’est parfait! No mariachi’s though. I couldn’t do it.
