I finally saw moissanite gems at a jewelry store in the Midwest.
One was a Forever Brilliant in a size about 1.25 c, the other was a regular moissy about 1c. They were loose stones, both rounds.
The store put them in a white holder and let me play around with them, comparing them, moving them with tweezers, taking them to different places in the store and even outside in sunlight.
After reading many many MANY opinions here on this WB site about moissy I thought I pretty much knew what to look for. The rainbows thrown by both were fab! Sparkle color rainbows!!!!!
The regular moissy was more yellow at first, but just barely. I only noticed it immediately and then didn’t notice it.
When I moved them around on the counter and in the room, they did change color. That is the “moodiness” described by several Bees here. I actulaly love that. I gasped when I took them to the door and they both changed color to yellow while my diamond ring was same as always (boring old thing! haha.)
I didn’t see the “hole in the center” problem so I must not be senstive to that. I didn’t notice “lack of depth” really. I definatley did not notice (and I looked for this carefully) lack of sharpness in the angles of the cut.
I like this stone and the color aspects of it, the colored rainbows and surprising moodiness it takes on. Maybe because I’ve been wearing a diamond for 25 years the moissies didn’t ACT like a diamond to me althought most of the time they looked like a diamond. But I’m in the crwod that appreciates them for what they are, pretty interesting.
