So I have refrained from posting anything about this situation because I didn’t want to put my negative thoughts out there on the internet for eternity, especially since I would have written them while especially peeved and that is never good. However, long story short: My fiance just graduated and was looking for work and I was bearing the brunt of wedding/honeymoon costs which was starting to irk me because I still have more school to pay for.
BUT! FI got his dream job today that he is planning on staying at for about a year and a half before going to grad school and moving with me and the Air Force. So, I finally feel like a weight has lifted 😀 we can afford the wedding/honeymoon of our dreams, pay off our school loans, and plan for the rainy days that are sure to strike once in a while!
How long did it take you/your SO to find work? Did they get what they were looking for? How much stress did it put on your relationship??

I’m glad he got his job! My husband thankfully found something right out of college but when we moved for his job, it took me a year to be able to find a job myself.

@fvsoccer: First of all, congrats! That is WONDERFUL news for you and your hubs-to-be.
I never had any student loans, thankfully, and thankfully KJ is totally cool with me not working in order to go back to school for another degree. I am glad that he is so supportive of my endeavors. Sounds like you’ve been pretty awesome and supportive, too, so pat yourself on the back for being such a wonderful gal.

Congrats on him finding his dream job and you two being stress free now!

It was really hard for me to walk the line between nagging him and pushing him to pursue his dream job instead of waiting for it. Somehow we managed though and came out better in the end! And he asked for the time for the wedding/honeymoon straight away so there won’t be any complications down the road!!!

yay- congrats to you both.
It took my FI a while- he was working when we met, back in ’08, got laid off in ’09, then worked part time in his field in ’10 which put a huge financial strain on him (and me). Then in ’11, he proposed (*yay*) and his luck got MUCH better from there- a month after he proposed, he got a new job paying him much more than the last AND just this week alone, he has had THREE requests for interviews, positions paying him more than what he is currently making. I joke that him proposing brought him oodles of good luck!
