Financial Advice for Same Sex Couples

As a married heterosexual who marriage equality, I am a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC.) Currently, they are running a program to help same-sex couples deal with the financial issues that can arise when their union is not recognized as a legal contract. I have posted the text of the email I received regarding the program below. If you are part of a GLBT couple, I hope this will be helpful and if you are just a supporter, I encourage you to pass the info on and to get involved with HRC. 
TEXT OF EMAIL: In every paycheck you've ever received, you've been contributing to Social Security. Imagine knowing that, should you die, your partner won't receive the survivor benefits you've paid for. Or imagine moving to another state, only to find that your partner will be kicked off of your health care plan. Situations like these happen every day to GLBT people across the country. So HRC is launching a national effort TODAY to give same-sex couples and GLBT individuals the tools to navigate tax laws and ensure good financial decision-making. HRC presents: 7 Days to a Better Financial You Each weekday from now through April 15, we'll address one of the significant financial issues facing same-sex couples and individuals. Through a variety of simple online resources, including a webchat on financial issues, we can help answer your questions and offer helpful ideas you might not have thought of.
