I was reading some other posts about student loan debt and since I am in that position with an okay job, can anyone recommend how to find a financial advisor? I think my husband and I could use some professional help telling us how much we should be paying on student loans/rent/ and helping us figure out how to save some money. Any suggestions?
BTW we already use mint.com. If you haven’t signed up for something like that, we totally recommend it since we can see where all of our money goes!

You should look for one on The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. They are fee-based so you don’t have to worry about having someone try to sell you something to make money for themselves.

you can also call any advisor for free advice..make sure they are accredited! i work for advisors and what MissAsB said was right- make sure you get someone that you dont pay them directly. Our firm has clients all over usa even tho we are located in PA.. we have 9 diff reps and our brokerage house is out of NY. So local always isnt best.

I can’t offer any financial advisors as it didn’t want to pay for someone to tell me i’m SOL. LoL I have an outrageous amount of student loan debt and i’m just paying as much as i can each month. And spending as litttle as possible. But i’ll probably still have that debt for the next 25 years unless i suddenly come into money. lol
