Argh, this is so hard, Bees!
FH and I are looking to buy a condo by the end of the summer (I know, I know, it’s not for a while…), and I’m currently looking into Real Estate Agents. My only problem is, how do you find one?! I don’t want to just call and make an appointment based on a bus stop sign, but there doesn’t seem to be a single website where they’re all listed with reviews & everything!
We don’t have anyone we can ask re: word of mouth, because none of our friends are even thinking of buying yet, and my parents’ realtor (who they LOVED) is retired. : (
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this task more manageable? I’m willing to do some work to find someone who’s going to be AWESOME, but I don’t have time to Google 1000+ different realtors separately!

Do you have facebook? We were in the same place so I posted something on FB asking people to give personal recommendations and I was bombarded by people. Good luck!

@brittanym526: No, I’m not on FB. FH is, for a job he had summer before last when he needed to do marketing, but he doesn’t use it for personal use. Maybe I could ask my dad or sister to post something (they both have FB). But thank you for the suggestion!

We found our realtor after we went to be preapproved at the bank. She gave us a suggestion and told us to meet up with him and that if we felt like we didn’t click, she had more contacts she could refer us to. She based her recommendation on his experience in the area and personality and we have loved working with him so far so that worked for us.

We met our real estate agent, Cathy, at an Open House showing. We didn’t really like the house she was showing at the time, but we really hit it off with her, and felt like she was someone who would listen to us and give us special attention. We were right. She turned out to be a dream to work with, and super nice and she DID help us find and buy our dream house. In fact we liked her so much, we are inviting her to our wedding. So I say go to open houses, and talk to the Real Estate people there, you could get lucky, like we did.

Maybe talk to your parent’s realtor anyway. Even though they are retired, they obviously knew others in the business and could point you in the direction of someone they know.

@mandb122: Thanks for the suggestion! I remember my FH’s banker saying something about getting us in contact with a realtor, now. (We’re kind of pre-approved.) Will have to follow up with her again!
@SandyThePoet: I guess I never considered searching out open houses, etc. on my own without a realtor (silly, I know!). We’re planning on buying a condo, so I don’t know if there’ll be realtors there in the show suites or not, but I guess it’s worth a shot.
@Mrs.KMM: That’s a good idea! I will ask them for his contact info.
