I am entering serious frustration as the date for needing to have a confirmed Celebrant approaches.
We are planning on a South Australian wedding in Adelaide. However, I am having a difficult if not IMPOSSIBLE time finding a Christian or Religious Celebrant. And yes, we want one to perform a Christian Ceremony.
I have mailed a few Celebrants but this is a hard business. We are waiting to hear back from a man FH went to Seminary with, but other than that I am kind of getting to the end of my rope.
I got a message back today from a celebrant that says he likes to meet with a couple nine months before the wedding. And then every other month from then until the ceremony.
Is there is a guide to getting married that couples should be given at like say College Graduation?
We are doing "distance learning" for our pre-marital counseling. We plan to keep it up into our marriage. We have spend the last year reading the Bible together, nightly! So, we are dedicated to this cause of continued communication and support of our spiritual life and of our marriage.
How did you start planning with your officiant?
And I realize not everyone is using a religious celebrant or officiant, which means you had to find this person somewhere. How did you find them? Did they make you meet with them? How many times? Please, I need details.
I was impressed at the way the Pastor worded his decline to me as he has other obligations already on that day. But that he likes to know the people with whom he is celebrating their marriage. I am very impressed by him and I want these qualities in our celebrant. But if we can’t find someone to do this in South Australia we have to wait until March of next year or else marry in the American Embassy in Kuwait, and neither of us are really trilled about that. Take about hell on women’s wedding attire!
