Neither Mr. Peach Tree or I are very religous and so we are having our wedding and reception at a non-traditional venue (restaurant). I want to hire an officiant since we are having a very small wedding (35 people) and I want all of my guests to be guests, not working my wedding.
So my question is this: how did you find your officiant and how much did you pay him?
Mostly, I’ve just been looking in the vendor reviews here and on the knot, but I dodn’t really have a picture of how much this will cost or if there is a better way to find the right person. Thoughts?

Unfortunately my fiance and I are in the process of finding our officiant so I can’t help with pricing but one thing that we did that you might be able to do too is call your county clerk, or the county you will be married in. you can ask for a list of officiants in the area. We got a nice long list and it broke it down by where they were located. Hope this helps a little!

That’s a great idea. A friend of mine recommended contacing an LGBT group, since they would have a list of more open/liberal officiants (since we are non-religous and live together, which can be an issue for some). Thanks forthe help!

Our officiant is a pastor at my parent’s church. But before we decided on him, we looked pretty much all over online. It just takes web-searching and meeting them before you can really find out if they are right for it. We’re giving him about $250, since its normal around the area.
