I understand with activity, salt intake, temperature, etc. it is normal for fingers to swelll and shrink a bit. But I find my fingers CONSTANTLY changing size throughout the course of one day, or even just a few hours. My fingers are quite small…and I find they can change upwards to one whole size in just a small amount of time…is this normal??? My ring is usually loose, so much so I almost took it in for resizing last week. Now it is so tight on me I feel pressure from it and cannot take it off, just this morning when I put it on it fit perfectly, if not a tad too big.
Is this normal?
Does it happen to anyone else?
What triggers it for you?
I don’t know whether or not to get my ring resized, I am worried it will be too big.

@Merinda1994: My fingers change constantly throughout the day based on my sodium and water intake. They also change based on the temperature and humidity levels. I’m lucky (?) in that my knuckles are larger so even when my ring is loose on my finger, it still wouldn’t slide over my knuckle.
My FI’s finger changes like crazy but not throughout the day. His is more seasonal so we actually ended up buying him two rings almost a full size apart. But, that isn’t really an option if your engagement ring is anything expensive!

@Merinda1994: It happens to me, especially in cold/warm weather. It has been so cold here (NJ) that my ring hasn’t fit me correctly in month. I keep wanting to resize it, but I know it is the perfect size once its hot/humid out. It really is frustrating.
I would keep it sized to whatever your hands are like in hot weather, and get those plastic ring sizers (I think called ring snuggies) to wear when its cold and your ring is too big. Thats what I do!

@Merinda1994: my fingers are ALWAYS bigger in the mornings. I don’t sleep with my ring on, but it’s always a little tighter going on.

@Merinda1994: If you finger changes dramatically in size you might want to consider getting sizing beads put on the inside of the band. Your finger will expand around them when it swells, and will keep the ring flush to your finger on the “beads” when your finger shrinks. A jeweler can add these and they are not terribly expensive.
