I'm so far from crafty it's not even funny. When I decided to take on the task of making a diaper cake for my FSIL's baby shower I was worried about how it would turn out. I went out this morning and got the supplies then spent the next 3 hours or so making it. I'm pretty proud of of the finished product. Whatdya think of my jungle themed diaper cake?

My favorite part is the little treat thats inside for my FBIL & FSIL after the babe is born. The center of the cake is a bottle of champagne!

@UpstateCait: I make my diaper cakes with the center with a bottle of baby powder, then stacked with a baby bottle, and then a rubber ducky. A friend of mine joked about giving the expectant mother a bottle of vodka at the baby shower! I'm holding her to it for the future!

@RR: I am! I had to roll over 100 diapers.

Thanks everyone! I still need to find a funky stand for it (not feeling the poorly shaped cardboard base).

@UpstateCait: I use 10inch cake rounds found in the Wilton baking section of Michael's or Joann's. It makes the whole base thing super easy.

Good job! I second the cake rounds at the craft store, or if its the right size use a footed cake stand (if you have one or could borrow one).

I can only hope for something that looks HALF as nice as that at my baby shower :)

PS- The centerpiece in the background are the centerpieces I used for my wedding! I think..

@PitBulLover: Normally every project I take on ends in disaster. I'm amazed that I was able to pull this off!

@carrieknitscake & @smyley: Good call on the cake rounds. I wish I would have thought about that when I was AC Moore earlier.

@firsttimemom: Scored that for a buck at a garage sale. Perfect for catching all of the crap that ends up on our kitchen table.

Thanks for all the positive feedback ladies! I hope FSIL likes it. =)

    That is super cute!

I made one for my younger sister's shower a few weeks ago, and I used a security blankie to hold it together (Plus one unsharpened pencil... the blankie didn't go quite all the way through)

I would post a picture, but my sister decided to delete her Facebook account so now I can't find it! But, basically it had blue polka dot ribbons tied around the tiers, and then the monkey on the blankie popped out the top. Then I did a little calligraphy style tag that I tied to the monkey's arm that had the baby's name on it.

That is super cute! My stepmom makes a diaper wreath, but there's definitely not a hidden bottle of champagne in it! I love it!

    Very cute!

Just an FYI, someone posted before that they got a diaper cake and didn't use the diapers for a few months and by the time they did moisture had gotten to the diapers and ruined them.  Make sure they store the diapers from the cake in zip lock bags or a tupperware or something.

I love this!  I'm hosting my cousin's baby shower next month and it's jungle-themed as well.  Totally gonna use your cake for inspiration (and the champagne idea)!  Fantastic job!  Thanks for sharing!

    I found a picture!!

Long story short, my sister deleted her FB profile b/c of drama, and then created a FB page for her 1 year old daughter! It's basically a "Family Only" page for picture sharing, and she just added baby shower pictures this evening.

So, here's the diaper cake I made! Not as elaborate as yours, but I'm still really proud of it.
