I just wanted to take a minute to to tell everyone about my experience firing a vendor. I hired the first caterer we interviewed because the wedding is in a small town, the vendor is right down the street, produces tasty foodie type food, and has a great philosophy about supporting local farmers, etc. Seems like a slam dunk, right?
Well, 2 months from the wedding date, we still weren’t able to get firm prices from her, any ideas about menu suggestions, and she was slow to respond to emails or phone calls. I started having doubts months ago, but finally broke down and started looking for other options.
I interviewed 2 caterers in the closest big city (40 miles away) and found someone who is awesome! The experience is like night and day, and within a week of our first meeting, we are already so much further than we had been with the last caterer. I am so happy I am near tears about it. So basically, the point of my story is, if you aren’t feeling good about a vendor, don’t be afraid to dump them. I wish I had sooner, it would have saved me tons of stress and heartache.
Anyone else had the same experience?
