DH and I are less than a month from our first wedding anniversary!
Since it seems very few people go with the tradition of saving the top tier of their wedding cakes anymore (we certainly didn’t want to eat a year old cake), just wondering how many people went out to get the top tier remade, either by their original baker or someone else?
If so, do you have photos of the remake, and your original cake?

Not a newlywed, but I think this sounds SO cute, Pengoala!! If you do it, I want to see pictures comparing the original and remakes! 🙂

I would definitely be doing this if we were going to be home for our anniversary but since we’ll be on vacation, we’ll have to make due with whatever cake we can find.

Thanks girls! Hoping I find some insight into the matter! 😀

We just got married, but it was in our baker’s contract to remake the top tier of our wedding cake. We did save the topper for tradition, but we will have a fresh tier to eat too- yummy!

Our baker relocated so we couldn’t do this, but I know people who have just gone back to the same baker. If your baker didn’t take pictures of your cake then I would just bring some wedding pictures and I’m sure it can be recreated.

We probably won’t get the actually design remade, but I plan on buying a whole cake to celebrate the next time I am back home near the bakery. It was so good.
What flavor was yours? Mine was white chocolate strawberry shortcake.

Our bakery did this for free (well – included in the cost of your original wedding cake) and they make the cake to look exactly like your original top tier. Unfortunately, we lived a 15 hour drive from our bakery so we couldn’t get our first anniversary cake. 🙁

Our bakery will be doing this for free. They won’t be decorating it the same way it will be decorated for the wedding, but it will have the same fillings.

Cool! I was thinking of going to a bakery a little closer to home to see if they can recreate our top tier. Maybe i’ll drop by armed with a photo and see if they can give me a quote.

Sounds like a good idea! Our top layer is in our freezer…my husband really wanted to do it. haha.

I think this is such a great idea!

Our bakery also does it for free, all I had to do was return the board that one of the cakes was on!
