We're heading back to Puerto Vallarta to the resort we spent our honeymoon at - this time with friends! :) Can't wait - 169 days and counting!
broadway show and a laid back dinner at a brazilian outdoor restaurant in alphabet city
we watched west side story, it was okay, I should have picked something else because I already watched the movie so many times; maybe we should have watched Wicked or Lion king but it didnt seem wedding like/anniversary like
DH said he has something secret planned...but we're also trying to take a trip to California sometime in Sept, so to me, that will count as an "anniversary trip".
We are still calculating if we can afford it. Planning a trip back to the city where we met and where we used to live (on the other side of the country).
We got married in a cute little town about an hour away from us, and we went back for the weekend for our anniversary. It was really nice, we brought our dog and stayed at a pet friendly B&B, there was a pet rescue fair going on that weekend, and we went to the dog beach. We went around and retook pictures at some of our favorite spots that our wedding pics were taken, it's neat to see the changes we've been through (my husband gained much needed weight and is now healthier, and I'm pregnant), in just a year.
Not really sure.
We have a family trip July 4th week so doubtful we'll be able to afford a trip of any kind or time off for a trip for our anni.
What do you have planned??? :D
Our first anniversary is in July and we have a trip planned to Paradise Island, Bahamas!!! So excited :)
We don't have anything special planned. We've been taking a lot of weekend trips so far this year plus we bought a new car in December and will (hopefully) be buying a house by the end of summer (have to wait until my job stuff gets straightened out). We decided that we won't do much of anything beyond going out to dinner (DH will be at a bachelor party that weekend anyway and won't get back until the evening of our anniversary).
@Mrs.KMM: you are a nice wife for letting the hubby go to a bachelor party on your anniversary!!
All of your plans sound wonderful :-)
We havent decided. We were thinking of spending a weekend somewhere that weve never been together - maybe Boston or Philadelphia. We are planning on a cruise for early December so we dont want to spend too much!
We went to New Orleans (we LOVE Nola!) for Satchmo Fest and to visit with our friends who moved there the day after our wedding. We started a tradition: we got up on the morning of our anniversary and read our vows to each other. Totally informal, my friend was making breakfast, her fiance was sitting at the table--and we just read them off of the computer to each other, sort of as a refresher of what we promised to each other.
@PitBulLover: It's for one of my best friend's / BM's soon-to-be husband (who was just shy of being a GM for DH). I couldn't say no, but I will harrass the bachelor for his timing!
I'm 99% sure we're going to Costa Rica!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For our first anniversary we went on an epic roadtrip... I have to say it was better than the honeymoon. We drove from BC where we live down to Salt Lake City, visited the Little Chocolateers, then drove to Vegas, spent a few days there, drove to LA, went to Disney (sooo awesome, we went to the Halloween party, so fantastic!), then drove up the coast, and went to the Roloff Farms pumpkin patch. It was awesome! I was unsure about going big for our first anniversary, but it was well worth it.
@Pugsandkisses: We did the Disney Halloween party in Florida and it was AMAZING, I loved every second of it! We're going to take my stepson next year :) What was Roloff Farms like?!
@Lindsay12.31.2010 and Bakerella - those are going to be awesome trips!!
I'm so jealous of everyone's plans! My DH is going to be taking summer classes at university and our anniversary is on a monday...so no special get aways for us. But we'll probably just go to our favorite restaurant in town:)
@JewishBride: We were too busy to take a honeymoon, so this is our little honeymoon/anniversary trip! My parents paid (well, gave us the money!) for the trip, so it has just been in savings until we could find the perfect time to go!
We had a quiet morning at home, then went to our ceremony site to walk around and take a photo, and went to dinner at our rehearsal dinner place. In a few weeks we are doing a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean (since our honeymoon site (Fiji) is too far away).
@Lindsay12.31.2010:That's really nice of your parents:) I've always wanted to go to Aruba! I'm hoping to take a longer honeymoon (we went away for a few days to a nearby city) on one of our anniversaries, but that might be hard with a child:)
We're going to Key West which is where we were supposed to honeymoon but had to cancel. We went on a cruise instead. I am so excited for the Keys! We've never been.
We had limited time and budget (and no car :-P) but we were able to get away overnight at a state park a few hours away. Someday I'd love to celebrate an anniversary at our honeymoon location, though
It's taken a while to get over the "should of done that" or post wedding blues, so I thought for our one year we could celebrate in such a way to do those things we wanted or just to relive the day:
We'll start by taking some photos(we have a photog friend) in the Boston Garden, with my husband in a nice suit and me in a nice knee length white dress with some of the accessories worn on our wedding day- like the jewelry and the hot pink shoes my BM's wore (I got a pair). We didn't particularly like our cake too much since the cake lady put a totally different color ribbon on it, and it had wilted flowers on it and we regretfully didn't have a cake topper. We also never went cake testing b/c the wedding was out of state. so...we just bought a lovely clay pink peony cake topper (from DK design) which we will take pictures on a cake for our one year, and this will be our keepsake :) We are also flying to the inlaws later in the day and will cut the real one year cake (maybe if it isn't freeze dried or moldy). :)
Then...my husband will force me to move on...;)
We did a weekend trip to Saugatuck, MI-it's a cute little beach town not too far away. We wanted to do something but nothing major...we'll save major trips for double digit anniversaries : )
We didn't do any gifts, we like taking trips better since it's a gift to both of us!
Today is our anniversary! DH is actually driving us back from a snowboarding trip to Mammoth. We spent 3 nights in a cute little condo at the Village. It was so nice. It even snowed for us while we were there. We got a foot of fresh powder. Went out for a nice dinner last night. And afterwards went back to the condo to drink champagne and eat our wedding cake. It was surprisingly delicious for being in the freezer for a year!
Hopefully having a baby or spending the first few days with our newborn. I'm due September 20th, and we were married on the 25th, so no get aways for us, but the best gift we could have given each other
We're going to the Star Wars Concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I guess the tickets to the show count as paper, since that's the first anniversary present. We're buying a house and we'll have just finished moving in when our first anniversary arrives. We can't afford any trips right now.
@pinkdreamer: lol I like your last sentence. That sounds like fun though! I think that will help you a little bit! I have also thought about doing a 1 year photo shoot. Not with our wedding clothes but just to have newlywed photos. But I still dont have any wedding photos in our house so I should probably do that first...
A month before our anniversary we were overseas visiting family so we took a few days to go on a bicycle trip to different cities just the two of us. It was a little adventure that was quite fun. Sometime b/w then and our actual anniversary I got back a positive pregnancy test so our plans to take a weekend trip that included lots of vineyards got cancelled. I was a bit tired the first trimester so we stayed locally and spent the weekend taking a long bike ride one day and big hike the next day but had breaks at cafes and restaurants and on the hike for a picnic and naps.
We went to Boston for a weekend trip. Our anniversary is over Labor Day weekend, so it was a perfect time to get away!
We went out to dinner at our fav resturant & out dancing at a jazz club afterwards.
But "technically" our anniversary trip was celebrated 2 months later when we went to Paris for NYE :)
