I have my first appointment/s to look at dresses tonight, one is at David’s Bridal another is at a smaller salon (I might check out another two salons in the same area but I don’t have official appointments there), anything I should know other than wear neutral underwear? Should I wear tights? Any particular “method” I should use to find my dress??? I’m so excited!!!! (I’m a size 12 and fully expecting most of the samples to not fit if that makes a difference!)

@SlovenePrincess: My suggestion would be to try on a variety dresses before deciding on a particular style. Even if you know what you want, there’s nothing stopping you from ultimately going with that style, but you never know what dress you never expected to like you may end up loving! So yeah, try a variety of styles before you get set on a particular one. Have fun 🙂
oh and bring a camera if they’ll let you take pics so you can look back later!

@SlovenePrincess: style your hair down, and bring a hair tie. then you can decide how you like your hair up or down while you have the dresses on. do your make-up so you look put together. take lots of pics for us to see 🙂

Definitely bring a hair tie and a few bobby pins. Wear neutral underwear. If you’re planning on wearing shapewear then bring it. Same with a strapless bra. Bring some pictures from magazines to show the consultant what you like. I’m a size 18/20 and I was able to try on samples as long as they were a size 12 and A line or ballgown. It just won’t zip, of course. If you fall in love with the first dress try on 9 more and then try it on again. I’d also recommend finding the dress you love then sleeping on it for a few days, then trying it on again. A LOT of women on the bee have dress regret because they got so excited they bought one of the first 10 dresses. That’s not to say that one of those dresses can’t be the perfect one, just realize that your emotions will be high and you might make a decision you later regret.

I agree with try on different shapes and sizes of dresses and the hair down, with the option to put it up!
Most of all though, HAVE FUN!! If you get frustrated and stressed it makes the experience so much worse!
I know at David’s you can bring water with you, I highly recommend that too. I get so hot and dry in there it is insane!

Def try on as many different styles as the shop offers. They look very different on compared to those on the rail and those on models in the magazines. Keep an open mind until you see it on.
If you find one you like, try another on with the same silhouette. Try another shop if they dont have any similar dresses.
I thought I have found my dress but it was just finding a silhoutte I liked. I tried on some more similar dresses and found an even nicer one.
