I have an appointment today with my doctor, and I am not sure if she is counting this as a true, first prenatal appointment, but I want to be prepared just in case.
I have a list of questions to ask already such as if I have a high risk pregnancy, what prenatal tests do I need, foods to avoid, and when to schedule future appointments…things of that nature.
What questions do you wish you would have asked at your first prenatal appointment? What questions do you feel are very important to ask?

My doctor was really great at explaining the whole process as far as visits and testing goes and what to expect during pregnancy. I really only had questions about the NT scan, if he had any prenatal recommendations other than what I was taking, and how important it was to avoid things like regular shampoo and makeup with all the horrible chemicals you hear about. Google was freaking me out, luckily he brought me back down to planet earth!
Good luck today! 🙂

It’s likely that your OB will have a “Welcome to Pregnancy” packet that you’ll recieve once they confirm the pregnancy with much of the info you’re requesting. And don’t worry… they’re used to all the questions, especially at the beginning 🙂

@megz06: I would say get a feel for how s/he will handle things like if something comes up and you need to speak to him how will you do that. As well as all the things a pp said.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I will add that she will not be my delivering doctor. Don’t know if that matters or not. If I miss anything it isn’t like I can’t walk upstairs and ask her since I work in the same building, hehe.
