missjz:   I’m in a different part of the world (NJ) but here is my floral estimate – bridal bouquet, best woman bouquet, four boutonnieres, eight centerpieces, US $1,755.-     The flowers will be in season and we’re using hydrangeas with accent flowers in the centerpieces to keep the cost down.  Hope that helps.

If you’re wedding is not in the early Summer, you will pay a lot for peonies, easily 250-400 for one bouquet, and that’s in the cheaper Midwest. Go with garden roses which look very very similar to peonies if you are staying on budget. Also be aware of the smell of babys breath. That was our original plan but they typically smell bad and turn brown quickly.

We are getting 1 bridal, 6 BM, 12 bouts, 4 corsages and an alter piece for $1000-1200, and that is in a very cheap area of the Midwest. Just call around and get some quotes

missjz:  based on the small number of things that you’ll be doing, I’d say that’s a fair estimate… peonies can be expensive but baby’s breath aren’t.

If you’re looking for guidance on bugeting I’ve found a few articles online before where it gives you the % of your total budget you should be spending on each category. It wasn’t a perfect science but it gave me an overall range to start from!

I think your budget is actually pretty fair, and you might have money left over.  I had peonies, roses, hydrangea and I did DIY flowers for my wedding and flowers cost me $800.    Baby’s breath is even cheaper.  And the supplies to do DIY wedding flowers is not that expensive.  You should be good to go.

I’m pretty much doing what you are doing. I’m having a destination wedding in Anguilla with no bridal party but here was my breakdown for the ceremony:

Bridal bouquet of 15-20 peonies: $242

4 chairs to have baby’s breathe tied around: $22 each

Boutonniere: (white orchid) $10 each

Corsages for mothers: $18 each

We are using garden roses and orchids for our reception.

When I was looking for florists they were estimating that for what I wanted would cost around $750. All I wanted was my bouquet and a toss one, 3 BM bouquet, 2 corsages, and 7 boutonnieres. So I decided that instead I would make everything. My total, thanks to Michael’s came out to $130.

missjz:  May is good. Depending on the area peonies are usually in season then. I was still quoted over 200 for a late May peony bouquet which was hydrangeas and a few peonies. I’d just email some florists and see if they’ll give you quotes. I booked my florist about 5 months before the wedding.
