My husband and I have been together for almost 8 years and have shared many amazing Christmas together. But this will be our first Christmas together in our own house, as we didn’t live together before we got married this passed June. My husband is always surprising me with amazing little gestures and I really want to make this Christmas memorable and super special. We’re not very materialistic so big gifts aren’t our style, but I’m looking to start some new traditions of our very own and surprise him a little bit.
What did you bees do for your first Christmas together…or are going to do for those who are newleyweds? Did you start any traditionals together?

Yay this will be our first Christmas as husband and wife also. This will be our 2nd Christmas as a couple so we haven’t had many yet lol. We just put up our tree yesterday and I guess our tradition was to buy special ornaments of special things in our lives. Then of course putting the tree topper on together. That’s about it for now! lol.

Nothing to add but this will be our seventh Christmas during which we’ve been a couple, but we’ve never been together on Christmas Eve or Christmas! I am so excited to finally get to see him on Christmas Eve and Christmas! We’re going to my parents’ for the weekend and Christmas Eve, then returning home, and we’ll see his parents on Christmas.

This will be our first Christmas as a married couple as well! In the past we never really did anything “Christmasy”, such as decorate, put up a tree, make dinner, etc.
This year I think I want to get a tree and decorate it with generic balls and lights. Then I want to go with him on Christmas Eve to find a special ornament to represent our first Christmas. I would like to continue that tradition every year until when we’re old and gray all of our “special” ornaments (aka ones that aren’t just glass balls) will represent each Christmas we celebrated in our marriage. 🙂

@Ms_Dee: First year = paper… so maybe tickets to a sporting event that he loves?

@Ms_Dee: This is our first Christmas together married, though we’ve spent two in a relationship. We are going home to celebrate with our families (they live close together), but we’ll be decorating here before hand. My mom made our family a tree skirt years a go and every year each of the kids paints their handprint on it. It is one of my favorite Christmas traditions, and I’d like to do that in our new family as well, though we’re not sure if we should wait and start when we have kids or not.
I’m thinking of putting together some kind of fun, service oriented advent calendar as well to help us focus on the giving part of the season. I haven’t really thought it all through yet… 🙂

Even though we were dating for over 11 years.. It is our Christmas too as husband and wife 🙂 Not sure if anything is going to be different though our families have celebrated together already.

This is also our first Christmas as husband and wife and we don’t really have anything special planned. I kind of want to get a “Our First Christmas Together” ornament from Etsy, but that’s the extent of my creativity in this area lol.

My sister sent this to me from Pinterest. You cut a piece of the trunk from your Christmas tree and make an ornament out of it. So cute!
This will be our 6th Xmas together. We just have traditions of attending the tree lighting parades in Chicago and going to see the Nutcracker and going to Kris Kindl Market.
I am thinking I should bring back the gingerbread cookies(when my daughter was younger we made them every year, but than Nutcracker rehearsal stopped that!) or find some recipe for mulled cider or something that can be a Christmas tradition. Bailey’s and hot chocolate?

I CANNOT WAIT for Christmas this year!!!!!
I’m a nurse and work every second Christmas. My husband and I have been together almost 10 years, but this year is our first as husband and wife, our first as homeowners in our new place, I’m not working at all over Christmas, AND we have a baby on the way. I’m so excited to spend this time with him starting OUR family traditions (I don’t know what they will be yet though!). 😀

this is our first Christmas as husband and wife, and I don’t think we’re going to do anything different to the last three Christmases we’ve had together lol

@Shelby81: wow, you have lots to celebrate, congrats! 🙂
i feel different about this Christmas too, being married, even though we’ve been together for four years. Funny, isn’t it?
we are super broke so we are getting crafty and doing hand made ornaments for our mini-tree. Not enough time off to visit family however, so it looks like it will just be dinner with another couple that are staying in the city for Christmas. we will make the best of it, and create special memories!

We’ve been together 13 years, living together for 8, but this is our first as husband and wife. I don’t really foresee any new traditions because we always travel to his family for Christmas, so we’re never home. In fact, in the 4 years we’ve owned our home we have YET to spend a Christmas in it.

We always make pretzels and absolutely SINFUL hot chocolate on Christmas Eve and watch a cheesy christmas movie 🙂
