@ams12: We set a modest price budget for each of us to spend on one another. My husband was really adament of wanting an actual present on our first christmas. I got him a sweater, dress shirt, DS video game and a nerf gun (yes, my 26 year old man child still plays with them with his university buddies).
Our gift to each other is a trip we are taking in a few months :)
We have enough stuff and it's almost a chore to think about something we need. I mean I could always use more diamonds, but you know ;)
I think I want to start the holiday tradition of getting a new pair of pajamas! I think its a cute thing that you can always use!
I might pick up some new clothes for the husband and maybe if the budget allows a big gift.
we bought cake concert tickets. :) totally kills the fun of present surprise, but ah well, we really want to see them! we might do a couple little stocking stuffers on the side though.
Husband's getting a dress shirt, a sweater, collar stays and slippers. He needs all of the above, but I did some nice things with them, like getting the collar stays and the dress shirt monogrammed. the slippers he's getting so that he'll quit stealing mine!
If you are on a budget how about be creative with your gifts. Create some rules like it has to be homemade or partially homemade and not more than 25 dollars...
We are adopting a family and doing small presents for each other with a $50 cap, but I am thinking of suggesting we go get a couples massage instead together.
i think i'm gonna get my hubby a monogrammed robe and pj's. He has actually been asking me to get him a new robe for ages, lazy man. anyways, i figure the monogramming would be a nice touch.
i'm also debating getting a few new tools for him also, but we kinda agreed on small gifts.
We are in the process of buying a house and will most likely close on it the week before Christmas so we decided to skip gifts this year. But it made me sad not to get him something so I bought a nice (but inexpensive) journal to start a new tradition of writing in it each year on our anniversary to share memories, hopes, and dreams. So it's really a gift for both of us.

Hey there bees,
This is going to be our first xmas together as a married couple, and with joint accounts. We have been trying to save and pay off some debt, so we are unsure if we are doing gifts for each other this year or maybe just do one big gift that we both need/want like a mini weekend away or something.
What are other newlyweds on a budget doing for their first christmas?
