So, we both suck at dancing, and neither of us having any desire to take dancing lessons so that we look “impressive” during our first dance together. Is it ok if we just sorta sway boringly for our first dance, or is that horribly lame?

That’s what we planned on doing. Luckily our 2 1/2 yr old daughter felt left out and came and joined for our dance. 🙂

I’ve seen dance lessons backfire. I went to a wedding where the couple was obviously counting under their breath and dancing very stiffly. I would have preferred they just swayed in the middle of the dancefloor.

We swayed and I loved it. 🙂 Do whatever you are most comfortable with!

Overall I think that it’s totally fine for a couple to just sway on the dance floor. The moment is about the two of you so you shouldn’t feel pressured to make your dance into a spectacle that doesn’t really illustrate who the two of you are as a couple. If you’re feeling like you’d maybe like to be slightly more impressive, you could just go to one or two lessons and learn some basic steps. I think it would be a nice compromise:)

I’m a big fan of swaying. I’m sure I’d mess it all up if I tried anything more complicated. Besides, I find swaying really romantic.

If you have mixed feelings, I’m sure there are some simple instructional videos on youtube.
