We are dancing to Shania Twain's You're Still the One. I'm not even a country fan, but that song is soooo perfect for us, that there was just no question!

sorry for the multiple posts, my computer is screwy....I had a few suggestions, but then I realized you were looking for first dance songs, not father-daughter songs. So, yeah. Sorry!

I choreograph first dances (as well as being a bride to be!) and I've had a number of country songs-- "Then" by Brad Paisley was popular and really pretty. I had a daughter/father do "I loved her first" that seems more fitting for father daughter because of the lyrics. The other one I've had is "You and me" Kenny Chesney. Hope that helps! good luck!

I almost hate to share because I LOVE this song and it is mine ;) But we are using "Never Alone" by Lady Antebellum and Jim Brickman.  It is a lesser known song because it is on Jim Brickman's CD (a piano player) and not Lady Antebellum's.  It just has this beautiful message about how when things are good or bad or wherever you go in life you will never be alone.  Makes me tear up every time!  Check it out on youtube!

I love "Then," by Kenny Chesney.  I would be using it if I could convince my FI there is nothing wrong with country music.

    First Dance:

    • Then -- Brad Paisley
    • My Best Friend -- Tim McGraw
    • Would You Go With Me -- Josh Turner (This is easy to overlook because it is very up-tempo, but the words are just perfect, and it is quite catchy. It fits some country line dancing rhythms, too.)
    • Lost in this Moment -- Big and Rich
    • I Cross My Heart -- George Strait
    • Amazed -- Lonestar
    • Love Without End, Amen -- George Strait
    • I Do (Cherish You) -- Mark Wills
    • It's Your Love -- Tim McGraw and Faith Hill

    Father/Daughter

    • My Little Girl -- Tim McGraw
    • My Wish -- Rascall Flatts (also a good Mother/Son contender)
    • You Can Let Go -- Crystal Shawanda (The end of this is really sad, so maybe if your DJ could edit it down to just the first two verse where she's a little girl and then on her wedding day?)
    • Butterfly Kisses -- Bob Carlisle

I'll edit in if I think of more!

She's Everything- Brad Paisley! It was the first song we ever danced to and is 'our song' so it works out great.

Our guitarist is going to play the corus and last verse to 'Then' by Brad Paisley when we are signing the marriage license, and we are trying to fit 'My Best Friend' by Tim McGraw in there somewhere.

We're dancing to The Dixie Chicks "Easy Silence"...not really sure if that's still considered country or not, but it's sweet nonetheless.

I think hands down the most romantic country song is "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait. Amazing lyrics, Amazing voice. Perfection.

Also, my mom's first dance song was "Walk Through This World With Me" by Mark Chesnutt, and they had a friend sing and play guitar.

I'm seriously considering "No Rush" by Josh Turner.  My FI and I have known each other for 10 years so I think its appropriate and its such a gorgeous sexy slow song!

Also, "Your Man" would be a beautiful song if you know the traveling cha-cha, and Brad Paisley's "Little Moments" could be quite great too?  I'm dying to find some sort of Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson or Merle Haggard song but most of them seem to be too sad or too over-the-top for me..

NOT trying to step on any toes here for those who have used them, but both "Butterfly Kisses" and "I loved her first" have been seriously overused for weddings.  If you are concerned with cliche, I'd avoid them despite the fact they are both great songs.

I am going to second both of the Lady Antebellum songs.  The Jim Brickman one is a gem, I know exactly why you were reluctant to share, KArthur!

We have been throwing around Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love for our first dance, but I'm also having a hard time not choosing Miranda Lambert - Love Song.  Its on her newest CD and if you have heard it, she isn't singing about fairy tale love, shes singing about real life love - the kind where you're partner knows you so well that they know exactly how to love you when times get tough.  :)  Since I'm doing upbeat with my Dad, I might do that instead of Queen.

PSA for anyone considering dancing to Then by Brad Paisley: it is a very L...O...N...G song. It was our first dance song too, and I love it, but in retrospect, DH and I felt like we were dancing forever...and ever...It still makes me tear up every time I hear it though. Just be prepared. And possibly consider having your DJ/band not play the whole thing ;)

Shania's "From This Moment On" was a fairly easy pick for us, although, I was initially pushing for Martina's "I Just Call You Mine"  Husband (wedding was 3.5 weeks ago!) let me use Martina's song for our last dance :)
