Okay, so I'm looking for suggestions for our first dance, but it has to be in the genre of country...its just our thing.....Suggestions Please!!!!!
We are dancing to Shania Twain's You're Still the One. I'm not even a country fan, but that song is soooo perfect for us, that there was just no question!
sorry for the multiple posts, my computer is screwy....I had a few suggestions, but then I realized you were looking for first dance songs, not father-daughter songs. So, yeah. Sorry!
I choreograph first dances (as well as being a bride to be!) and I've had a number of country songs-- "Then" by Brad Paisley was popular and really pretty. I had a daughter/father do "I loved her first" that seems more fitting for father daughter because of the lyrics. The other one I've had is "You and me" Kenny Chesney. Hope that helps! good luck!
I almost hate to share because I LOVE this song and it is mine ;) But we are using "Never Alone" by Lady Antebellum and Jim Brickman. It is a lesser known song because it is on Jim Brickman's CD (a piano player) and not Lady Antebellum's. It just has this beautiful message about how when things are good or bad or wherever you go in life you will never be alone. Makes me tear up every time! Check it out on youtube!
@littlebug - give me some ideas for father daughter for country too, please!
Lonestar - Amazed
baby im amazed by you, the smell of your skin, the taste of your kiss, the way you whisper in the dark, your hair all around me...... . and i could keep going haha :)
or
Martina Mcbride - I just call you mine
Father daughter dance
Heartland - I loved her first, (Love it)
Taylor Hicks - Do i make you proud
Soulmate - Josh Turner
Your Man - Josh Turner
Then - Brad Paisley
Ring Of Fire - Johnny Cash
Bless The Broken Road - Rascal Flatts
Breathe - Faith Hill
Cowboy Take Me Away - Dixie Chicks
Ever Ever After - Carrie Underwood
Love Story - Taylor Swift
I love "Then," by Kenny Chesney. I would be using it if I could convince my FI there is nothing wrong with country music.
First Dance:
Father/Daughter
I'll edit in if I think of more!
Forever & Ever Amen by Randy Travis
Deeper than the Holler by Randy Travis
We Danced by Brad Paisley
When I Said I Do by Clint & Lisa Hartman Black
Mama He's Crazy by The Judds
I Will Always Love You - Dolly Parton
My all-time favorite romantic country song is "To Make You Feel My Love" by Garth Brooks.
She's Everything- Brad Paisley! It was the first song we ever danced to and is 'our song' so it works out great.
Our guitarist is going to play the corus and last verse to 'Then' by Brad Paisley when we are signing the marriage license, and we are trying to fit 'My Best Friend' by Tim McGraw in there somewhere.
My Best Friend by Tim McGraw
All I Need to Know by Kenny Chesney
Keeper of the Stars by Tracy Bird
I don't think anyone said this one, it's definitely been done before but it's one of my favorite songs ever... "It's Your Love" by Time McGraw and Faith Hill...I love it bc they're married in real life so it feels more real!
we are using "Only You Can Love Me This Way" by Keith Urban... love the lyrics!
@serya, most people don't realize it but I Will Always Love You is actually a breakup song.
"Making Memories of Us" by Keith Urban... I love this song. I'm between this, & "Then" brad Paisley. They are both beautiful.
Our first dance is going to be to John Michael Montgomery's Come Home To You. Then by Brad Paisly is also a great one. So is Tim McGraw's My Best Friend and Its Your Love. When You Say Nothing At All by Allison Krauss. There are lots of good ones!!! :)
"Look at you girl" by Chris Ledoux is beautiful and worth listening to!
Faith Hill- "If I Should Fall Behind" (originally by Bruce Springsteen) . Rascall Flatts- "My Wish" is a nice one for father-daughter.
We're dancing to The Dixie Chicks "Easy Silence"...not really sure if that's still considered country or not, but it's sweet nonetheless.
ours is going to be "The Day Before You" by Rascall Flatts. i also love keith urban's "only you can love me this way." another good one by him is "your everything." a lesser known one unless u have the Lady Antebellum album is "Can't Take My Eyes off You." and i looooove "Baby You Belong" by Faith Hill..."Lost" is another good one by her for a wedding dance. Just wanted to give you some different ones to check out if you haven's heard...everyone has great suggestions too!
I think hands down the most romantic country song is "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait. Amazing lyrics, Amazing voice. Perfection.
Also, my mom's first dance song was "Walk Through This World With Me" by Mark Chesnutt, and they had a friend sing and play guitar.
I'm seriously considering "No Rush" by Josh Turner. My FI and I have known each other for 10 years so I think its appropriate and its such a gorgeous sexy slow song!
Also, "Your Man" would be a beautiful song if you know the traveling cha-cha, and Brad Paisley's "Little Moments" could be quite great too? I'm dying to find some sort of Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson or Merle Haggard song but most of them seem to be too sad or too over-the-top for me..
NOT trying to step on any toes here for those who have used them, but both "Butterfly Kisses" and "I loved her first" have been seriously overused for weddings. If you are concerned with cliche, I'd avoid them despite the fact they are both great songs.
I am going to second both of the Lady Antebellum songs. The Jim Brickman one is a gem, I know exactly why you were reluctant to share, KArthur!
We have been throwing around Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love for our first dance, but I'm also having a hard time not choosing Miranda Lambert - Love Song. Its on her newest CD and if you have heard it, she isn't singing about fairy tale love, shes singing about real life love - the kind where you're partner knows you so well that they know exactly how to love you when times get tough. :) Since I'm doing upbeat with my Dad, I might do that instead of Queen.
"When You Kiss Me" by Shania Twain would be an amazing wedding song-

We are going to have our first and only dance to "Then" by Brad Paisley!
PSA for anyone considering dancing to Then by Brad Paisley: it is a very L...O...N...G song. It was our first dance song too, and I love it, but in retrospect, DH and I felt like we were dancing forever...and ever...It still makes me tear up every time I hear it though. Just be prepared. And possibly consider having your DJ/band not play the whole thing ;)
We are going to dance to the new Darius Rucker song History in the Making. It is amazing!!!!
Shania's "From This Moment On" was a fairly easy pick for us, although, I was initially pushing for Martina's "I Just Call You Mine" Husband (wedding was 3.5 weeks ago!) let me use Martina's song for our last dance :)
