My fiance and I are in the process of figuring out our music for our wedding and we were talking about our first dance song. We’ve talked about using the song “Young Love” by Kip Moore but we’ve had some hesitations. While we think of each other when we hear this song and we feel like it represents us and the struggles our relationship has been through, we feel as if people are going to be wondering why that song since it does not seem like a “traditional” first dance song. I was just wondering what y’all thought about the song as the first dance. Thanks! 🙂

I didn’t know the song so had to look up the lyrics, I think it sounds nice. Go with what feels right to you both, thats all that matters in the end. We wanted a song that has some significance in our relationship so Al Green Lets Stay Together is a themed song to all the freddie prinze jr movies we used to love watching earlier in our relationship so it feels right!

My FI and I debated using that song as well! In the end we went with “Smile” by Uncle Kracker. Definitely not a traditional first dance song and people may think it’s a little weird, but it’s been our song since we started dating. I think your first dance song should speak about your relationship. So I think you should use whatever song you want 🙂

Use Young Love! I love that song, it’s wonderful and very fitting. I believe it came about because him and his co-writers were talking about one of their marriages and how they’d stuck together no matter what.
There’s tons of acoustic versions on YouTube if it’s the tempo you think isn’t “traditional first dance”.

I think it’s a fantastic idea! – I havent heard the song, but i’m a very non-traditional bride and my FH and I are huge country music fans! I say go for it
