Danni331:  Me and my SO are the same way… May I recommend “Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith, “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd, “Lady” by Styx, “The Flame” by Cheap Trick, “Something” by The Beatles, or “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton? If I come up with more I’ll add them here later, I hope this helped a little bit 🙂

We did “Hold On” by Michael Buble. We never had “a song” either, but when I was shopping at Kohl’s a few months before our wedding, I heard that song and I nearly cried, DH liked it too, so that’s how we found it! Our second choice was “You and Me” by Lifehouse.

FI and I always joked that our first dance song would be “Stuck with You” by Huey Lewis and the News. I always giggle uncontrollably when I hear that song.

We had my girl! It’s not too slow and nice to dance to! Everyone sang along too 🙂 x

My SO and I will be having Green Eyes by Coldplay for our eventual wedding. We both have green eyes and the song reminds me of him and him of me so it’s a natural choice for us.

You could think about songs that came out around about the time you started dating? Might help narrow it down a bit?

You could try top100weddingdancesongs.com for some ideas. It has links to videos of the songs so you can go through and play them /listen to the lyrics and see if you like them 🙂

Danni331:  okay so I had another thought — and this is a stretch but it’s just an idea — you could do half a classic rock song. The example I was thinking of would be an homage to Freaks and Geeks, lol. “Come Sail Away” is slow and pretty in the beginning and then there is a drop, so you could ask people to start dancing when the music gets faster and have your dance to the slower part. I’m not sure how you and your FI feel about dancing but if you’re not huge fans then you wouldn’t have to dance the whole song either. Just an idea 🙂

How classic? What about Thank you by Led Zepellin?

Yeah we are having the same issue but for a processional song. He’s a classic rocker and I am an 80’s new wave cheeseball.  I was thinking of Thank You for our processional (we are walking in together). I’m letting him pick that one since I picked our first dance song (although he completely agreed with it) with John Legend’s “All of Me”.

So I think he has it down to either Thank You by Led Zepellin or Nothing Else Matters by Metallica.

We weren’t planning a first dance (small wedding, outdoor reception) but the band started playing Van Morrison’s Into the Mystic.  My hubsband grabbed me and we danced to that.

FI and I have not agreed on a song yet. He wants a “shredder” that he can hear on the radio and remember the day (thoughhtful, yes)… but I want a song with meaning and am in love with “Follow Through” by Gavin DeGraw. Luckily, we saw him in concert this summer and he played it, and I made sure FI was listening to the words. Plus, I can now say that we’ve hard that one live and that can be a great memory.

I’m sure until we have to find something, we’ll debate over it.

We haven’t decided yet, but options are: I won’t give up (Jason Mraz), you and me (Dave Matthews), everything (Michael Bublé)
