I came across a wedding blog that featured a couple who had known each other since 6th grade (only to start dating sometime in their 20s). They chose to play “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” for their first dance.
I think it’s a cute idea but I wonder how well it would be received… Fiance and I have known each other for 15 years (both are 23) and share a love of Pixar films.. we even saw Toy Story 3 together when it came out! If you were a guest at our wedding, would playing this song make you go “awwwwwww” or say “what in the world….?”

@meladoug: I would enjoy that more than some sappy love song (like I’m using) haha, go with it, it’ll be adorable!

I don’t have any problem with it. I think it’s cute.

I think it would be so cute! My Future Sister-In-Law loves Toy Story and I could totally see her doing something like that when she gets married. I’m all for weddings really reflecting the couple’s personalities. Do it!

I think its sweet, its not just from Toy Story either, is it? I thought I heard it before that movie. I don’t think anyone will think its weird- its important to stay true to who you are

Go for it!! I want my wedding party to walk down the aisle to the Indiana Jones theme song… So if I can do that then you can do this 🙂

I think it’s really cute and nice that it has such a personal connection with you. The lyrics are also really fitting for a wedding.

I would definitely say “awwwww” (but not laugh)
No knocking of animated films for me! I’m a huge Disney/Pixar fan (actually used to work for Disney) and throughout the years, I’ve turned future hubby into one too. In fact, our first dance song is “Beauty and the Beast” from Disney’s Fairytale Weddings (as requested from him. I had a few qualms about him being referred to as a “beast” but he insisted. I agreed to go along with it as long as it was the instrumental version) We’re also using Toy Story 3’s “We Belong Together” for the ‘Snowball’ dance (some added activity our DJ uses to get people dancing) as well as a few other Disney touches here and there. Like I say- just cuz it’s animated doesn’t reduce the quality in any way.
