I am not close with my dad – at all. I haven’t decided if I’m even inviting him, but regardless, he won’t be walking me down the aisle.
I’ve asked my little brother (he’s 24) to do all the “Dad” stuff with me (walk me down the aisle, first dance) and he said he’d be happy to which was a HUGE relief.
My wedding is still just under a year away so I have tons of time to think about this, but can I get some suggestions on a first dance for Brother/Sister?
I want it to be short and sweet and not overly sappy, because he is my little brother and not my dad, lol. 🙂 But any and all suggestions are welcome! 🙂

You have a first dance with your new husband, not your father or brother.
You can use any song you want. it doesn’t have to have a brother/sister theme. Is there a song that has special meaning to both of you? One idea that works for a generic non-dad song is There You’ll Be by Faith Hill. Not sure how short it is but it’s definitely sweet and talks about supporting each other.

Another sweet and fun one for the bro/sis relationship would be ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me‘ from Toy Story. It’s not romantic, has childhood memories with it for most people, and it’s a sweet, simple, shorter song.

I’m in the same boat! I’m doing the same thing with my little brother. I really like the “you’ve got a friend in me” idea!

I just found out today that my father walked his sister down the aisle because their parents “had plans” and didn’t go to the wedding. My father was only 19 at the time. I think it’s really sweet!
Is there any song perhaps from your childhood or growing up that you remember and like?
This might be a little sappy it’s more between 2 brothers but maybe it could work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjNaS9Zp1cg

My brother and I used to watch An American Tail and Fieval Goes West together. So we’ll be dancing to Somewhere Out There http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZJIAFiqrXk
