Ours is a bit different … We’re doing a jive to You Give Me Something by Jamiroquai. We listen to a lot of JK together but we did keep noticing lots of beautiful slow songs as well after we leant our JK dance. Will you do a traditional waltz?

@Myrnac13:

I need you by Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill is our first dance song…not real big into country but it is a great song!

We used Old Fashioned by Cee Lo. There are so many lists on the Knot. You could use thoe as a starting point. What I find annoying is that once you look at the lyrics to a song, a lot of “love” songs turn out to be really inappropraite.

I really like the song “How do I live” by Leanne Rimes and “Everytime we touch” by Cascada (slow version) and “From this Moment On” by Shania Twain and “Feilds of Gold” by Sting. They would prob be a few of our slow song contenders.

We have never had a song together either!  We are torn between “Free” by Zac Brown Band and “Stay With You” by John Legend.  Neither have sentimental value, but we both like ZBB and i LOVE John Legend, so FI is forced to listen all the time 🙂

we’re dancing to sam cooke’s that’s where it’s at. it’s not really “our” song, but i saw it on a website (maybe it was the knot?) and gave it a listen. at first, i wasn’t totally feeling it (tho i do love sam cooke!), but after a few listens i decided i really really love it! it’s a really sweet song and it actually does “fit” us.

there are a lot of songs i considered, but i wanted something timeless (we don’t wanna look back in 20 years and wonder what the hell we were thinking, ha) and something that hadn’t been done 1000 times already.

I feel the same way. I had songs with my ex-bfs but not with my FI which makes me a tad bit sad. Since we meet online I thought I wanted savage garden “I knew I love you” but after some research we are liking Bryan Adams “Heaven” or “everything I do”. I was so going to pick Shania Twian “from this moment” but FI said no way to country. I am still trying to figure out what song to walk down the isle to. I feel the song I pick must speak to him if that makes any sense.

  FI picked “I Do (Cherish You)” from 98 degrees, but (and this is with all due respect…I’m not meaning to dog on you if you feel otherwise)to me, that song (and others from N’Sync, Backstreet Boys, etc.) reminds me of 8th grade mixers. I had to veto that one.

  We chose “Marry Me” by Train. It was hard to pick a song…we don’t really have “our” song.

@Myrnac13:  I totally hear you!!  My FI and I don’t have an “our song” – in fact I haven’t had a song w/ a BF since highschool I think.  Anyway, one song that does always make us think of each other is “give me everything” by Pitbull (i know – but the “grab somebody sexy” gets us everytime), so we’ll be entering the reception to that.  Totally blank on first dance though…

We got engaged after 7 years together and also didn’t have a song. We’re dancing to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne

we are still deciding but either “falling in love” by Taio Cruz or “a thousand years” by christina perri.

we didnt want an older song as we fell like they have been done and done and done again, they are lovely and will be played during the night but we wanted more modern song.

I have been searching for songs and haven’t been able to find one. I thought the song I’m walking down the aisle to Shania Twain “When You Kiss Me” would be perfect but I couldn’t give it up bc that HAS to be my song to walk down the aisle to. I left it up to FI and he wants God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton. I love that song so I am happy with it. But who knows..we have 73 days left (yay) it could change. Before he picked that song I was searching you tube like a crazy.

@mrsSonthebeach:  I love Old Fashioned. It has such a feel good vibe 🙂
