So I was thinking about putting a space on the invitation reply card for guests (if they are married) to write down their wedding first dance song. I was going to have the DJ play those songs during the later part of the cocktail hour (having a piano player for the first part) and during dinner.
My question is that going to slow down the tone the evening by playing so many slow songs during dinner? I was thinking dinner music is usually more of a medium temp/jazzy feel.

I’m personally a fan of slow music during dinner. It’s really just background music anyway.

My sister-in-law’s niece did that and I thought it was a great idea. You can hear people comment when their song came on, it was very sweet!!

You might not want to play them all the way through; just a medley perhaps.

We plan to so this with our closest family and friends first dance songs though it won’t be done during dinner since I’m sure they’ll probably want to dance to them. It’s only 5-6 songs so we’ll just have them played throughout the reception.
