Oh no!! I’m so sorry 🙁  My kitten escaped my house a few weeks after we got her, and I panicked and climbed all over the roof looking for her, walked around looking for her… nothing.  She came back a couple hours later, meowing at our door for food.  She is more likely to know where you live than you think… she may well just come back when she gets hungry.  *hugs* I know it’s so stressful!!  Is there a door your sister can leave open for her with some food just inside, or would the other animals get out?

@CaliRorter:  Awww hon, I think it’s unlikely someone actually stole her.

She could be sleeping under some bushes next door or something, kittens are tiny!

Don’t lose hope!

Sorry but I have to ask. What was a kitten that young doing outside, let alone outside on it’s own. It is recommended that kittens should not be outside until they are neutered, fully vaccinated, flead, wormed and microchipped. So this is at the 6 month mark.

I hope you get your kitten back but I wouldn’t leave it with your sister anymore.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I really  hope you find her .. if you do find Her, praying you do , I really don’t think a 9 week old kitten should be left alone outside that young. They are so small they could hardly defend themselves:/ did she have a collar or was she microchipped ? check the local animal shelter. Hoping this story has a happy ending..

And I don’t mean to make you upset about the not leaving a kitten outside commentI I just lost 2 cats in the same night years ago and just thinking that If two adult cats together cant make it back home it makes me worried for a Kitten.

So sorry about your kitten 🙁 omg that is so sad. Dont lose hope! About a month ago, I adopted a new dog and as soon as I brought him home he ran away. Yet he stayed in the neighborhood and we used a trap to catch him with food.. A week later, he was caught! Sending you good vibes and prayers 🙁

I second that she might just be hiding somewhere. When I first got my kitten, she managed to find a hiding spot inside my recliner. We had NO idea, where she was- searched my whole apartment, the building, even outside. She came out a few days later when she was ready. Cats are such skittish animals, and especially with yours being so small still, she probably just squeezed herself somewhere no one could find her.

My upstairs neighbor at a place I used to live lost her kitten for a few days. She was outside all the time calling the kitten’s name, even sadder because she was an elderly lady living by herself. Finally she stopped doing it. I asked her one day if she had any news on her kitten, and she replied that she was going for a walk around the block and when she opened the drawer with her exercise clothes in them, there was the kitten! Kitty stretched and hopped right out.

My childhood cat was also a master of hiding. We had one of our sofas against the wall, and my cat managed to squeeze back there, claw a hole in the fabric, and move in. Another time she got out and we found her freaked out in the neighbor’s tree.

I agree with PP, she really should not have been outside. Honestly, I do not agree with people letting cats outside period. It is so easy for something to happen to them. If she wasn’t already an outdoor cat you shouldn’t try and make her into one. If she was, she would need time to get used to her new home inside before going outdoors. I have so many stories of unhappy endings because people want their cats to be outside for whatever reason. I do hope you find her and I hope you’ll consider keeping her indoors.

Oh, I’m so sorry that you kitty has gone missing!  I’m sure she will show up, as others have said.  Cats are masters of hiding.  Don’t lose hope just yet.  She’s probably hiding somewhere in the house, particularly if strangers are coming in and out.

And people, please this is not the forum to bring up whether or not cats should be allowed outdoors.  The OP is looking for comfort, not for blame.  There are plenty of people who feel that letting their cats outside is the right thing to do.  Opinions differ, so please stop.
