- Wedding: September 2014
FI and I have felt pretty accomplished so far in wedding planning. We have a date set, ceremony and reception venue (which includes catering and bar), we know the timing of our event and that it will be a brunch menu. We also booked a photographer for our wedding and engagement photos and have chosen our officiant.
Since we know that we want to do a lot of DIY details, we’re getting started really early.
This past weekend we went berry picking and picked 17lbs. of strawberries and 10lbs. of peaches and apricots. FI ordered 7 dozen 4oz. canning jars and last night we started the canning process. Ok, it was mostly FI (who loves canning) but I helped clean and mash strawberries. We now have 23 jars of strawberry/balsamic jam and 24 jars of plain strawberry jam. Thursday night we’ll do a peach/apricot jam. This week will put a major dent toward our goal of 200 jars of jam, which will be used for favors at the wedding (with a little bag of whole leaf tea) and go in welcome bags for out of town guests.
We’re both very excited.
