Most places have long-line bras for you to use. I went to a local bridal boutique last Friday and tried on about four dresses. It took an hour–it takes time to get in and out of those contraptions, you know! 😉 I didn’t have a formal appointment–just jumped in and said, “Hey, let me try some on so I’ll know what I like.”

That being said–good luck!

I was totally lost too–I didn’t have any idea what I wanted at all. I ended up getting my dress at the first place I went to. My appointment was about 2.5 hours, I think, because I am really indecisive.

I was assigned a sales person, and first she asked me what I wanted, which I couldn’t answer coherently, so she just asked me to describe what my wedding is going to be like, how I met my Fiance, and other questions to kind of a get a sense of my style without my having to say, “this is my style.”

I then tried on a bunch of dresses–maybe 10 or 12?–putting aside the ones that I liked, and eliminating the definite no’s. When I’d gotten it down to 3 dresses, I took an hour lunch break to clear my head and came back, tried on all 3 again, and made my decision.

In my experience, the people were really helpful and patient, and the store had extra bras and shoes for me to use while trying on dresses, if necessary.

Good luck! It’ll be fun.
