Anyone else find their first dress fitting a truly awful experience!
I’m not a fan of just standing stock still like a soldier but I was expected to just stand perfectly still with hands by side and head straight while the seamstress did my hem and I hated it! An hour and a half later and I was literally running for the door when she’d finished!
I just wanted to see whether anyone else had had a similar experience at their dress fitting? I’m glad I only have to do it once in my life!

@Ratchit99: Oh man! This sounds aweful. I haven’t had my first fitting yet, so I’m courious to see if this is the norm.

My seamstress was so chill, definitely didn’t have to stand perfectly still for that long! In fact, the last thing she did was my hem! I had to get my dress taken in a lot so she did that first because sometimes that changes the length, but even then she just pinned a few spots to show how much to take it up and that was it.
I did go to a private seamstress.. I’ve had other dresses altered and its definitely every place you go.

I had mine yesterday. My seamstress was very nice, but it took us awhile to figure out what to do about the bustle. It’s a ballgown (though not a huge one) and originally I had wanted a French bustle in the back. The netting layer on top of the skirt is actually longer than the satin train underneath, so I had to go for a traditional bustle instead, and it ended up looking much better. Miraculously, whien I put my heels on, the dress was exactly the right length, so at least I don’t have to have anything taken off of the bottom!

I had my first fitting on Friday. My seamstress was lovely, very chatty and put me right at ease. I was there for an hour and a half but the last 20 minutes was us chatting lol.
She discussed a lot of different options for hemming (I have lace detail on the bottom of my skirt making it very difficult) and we figured out how to butsle it.
I was a little worried about going to her as my first choice was fully booked up but I’m glad it has worked out.
