Many of you might have seen this idea on the same place I first found it- Pinterest. In case you haven’t heard of this, here’s what the Pinterest site I found has to say:
Place a nice bottle of wine in a wooden box along with a love letter from each of you. Nail it shut during the ceremony. Set a time to open it, perhaps your first fight or your 5th wedding anniversary. It’ll be a great reminder of how much you love each other and the reason you got married. –
This is used as an alternative to unity candles or sand, which I personally dislike. When I found this, I fell in love with the idea! The reality is that marriage IS hard, and CAN be a challenge. So we wanted to use something more “real,” if you will. We even bought a beautiful personalized wine box for the occasion:
Now, I’m working on our programs and have no idea what to call this thing! I don’t want to write “First Fight Box,” because that seems negative. This is what I came up with, and I’m looking for your thoughts and help:
Knowing that marriage can be hard, the couple has set a challenge for themselves. Two letters were written last night and will be placed into a special box with a bottle of wine. “The challenge” is to save the wine and read the letters together at their 15th wedding anniversary, OR when the couple has their first fight and needs to remember this moment.
