My first fitting is this Thursday and I can’t decide if I should add straps with cap sleeves to my dress or not. I’m self-conscious about all of my body but especially my arms, and I’m uncomfortable showing my shoulders. I never wear tops with anything less than a cap sleeve or a cardigan to cover up. But I’ve gotten a few people telling me that I shouldn’t add straps, so I’m really confused as to what I should do. What do you think?
Edit: … aaaaaaaand I forgot the poll, and apparently can’t add it. Sigh.

Talk to your tailor about it – I mentioned it at my first fitting and she went and grabbed some spaghetti straps and pinned them on. Immediately the moms there with me loved it – by the last fitting (5, I think), we had added some of the tulle taking off when my skirt was hemmed to the straps to give a bit of a cap sleeve look. Initially I’d figured I’d go strapless for the ceremony and reception, and wear the straps during our afternoon games and relaxing time, but as my fittings went on, I realized that the straps really suit me, and now the plan is to wear them all day! Hope this is helpful . . .

I think it looks beautiful without them. It’s your day. No one will be judging your arms.

You look very lovely in your dress. If you are really want starps, draped tulle straps going to the point of your shoulder would fit the romantic vibe of your dress.
