So excited… had my first fitting with shoes on this weekend…. The sleeves are smaple sleeves pinned on the dress, I am having sleeves made in matching lace to the skirt of my gown.
Please let me know what you think for a parish church wedding followed by golf-club buffet dinner and jazz-dance reception

Is your fitting early or is mine late? I’m getting married 10/13 and my fittings begin the last week of August. Are you doing bridal shots?
Your dress is stunning. I am so tired of seeing the same 10 dresses being posted, this one is gorgeous and unique!

@MrsFutureG: I was wondering the same thing. I start fittings in 3 weeks for my September wedding.
Beautiful dress though!

@gelaine22: That’s why I asked about bridal shots. My seamstress said unless you are doing bridal shots, you should do your alterations about a month out, since a lot of brides end up dropping a lot of weight right beforehand from stress, crash diets, etc.
Which sucks. Because I bought my dress last August and it’ll be over a year before I FINALLY get to put the stupid thing on!!

@Ozziebee: I love your shoes too!

@MrsFutureG: I’m getting married close to you! I might be able to shed some light.
My dress just arrived to the bridal salon last week! I’m going to try it on today, but not start alterations until closer to the wedding. It sounds like 1-2 months out is normal.
So the initial try-on… Very exciting! But the dress probably just arrived.
@Ozziebee Love the lace, so pretty!!!

@MrsFutureG: I bought my dress in 2011 and my wedding date has changed TWICE so it’s been sitting in my closet since March 2012 – at this point I want to just wear it and sell the thing LOL!!!!

Thanks to everyone for their lovely comments… you are all so kind
A note to the ladies listed above, My wedding is Sunday 6 October 13, it’s on a long weekend in Australia. The dress is by an Australian designer, Nicolina, from the “Love in Florence” collection
It’s policy in Australia that once your dress is custom-made, based on the sample, you have your first fitting with shoes ASAP so that if there are any problems they can be fixed up right away. Because I am having added sleeves, hem taken up and bodice taken in 1 size I will have two more fittings before I take the dress home.
It also fitted in well since the bridal studio I sourced the dress from is not in my city, but my MOH’s, who is my sister and I was with her last weekend to celebrate her birthday.
So yes, my first fitting is a little early, but it’s great as gives plenty of time. I have my next fitting on 13 July and my last in early September.
I wanted to evoke a bit of a modern take on a young Elizabeth Taylor with this dress, very hourglass and nipped in. My shoes were $40 on sale online from http://www.theinconic.com.au I wanted ivory as I will be carrying rich-coloured pink and purple flowers.
