I had my first fitting today…I LOVE the dress, it is so pretty. I had dress regret a few months ago but you all talked me down. I am not about to change the dress – I love it. But in the front on picture, all I can see is my HIPS. Ahhh…they look huge! I asked my sister what she thought at the time and she said it makes my waist look tiny and I should stop worrying about it, but I’d love some impartial opinions too…Im wondering if the sash is cinching me in too much and making me look hippy? Any thoughts? (I’ll add a poll, just cos everyone loves a poll!)

I like the way it looks! The sash is pretty, and it shows off your tiny waist – keep it just as it! You look beautiful.

Do you have a picture of the front with out the sash?

you look amazing! Your hips don’t look big at all.

The dress is amazing! You look totally stunning in it.
I think it shows of your banging curves, but I can see why you’re asking about the sash. If you make the sash thinner (fold it in half or something) does that help?
Personally I think it looks great as-is.

I second the “banging curves” comment, you look AMAZING!

I think you over worry, your hips do not look big, you look great!

Gorgeous dress and you look amazing in it! It’s not so much that your hips look big, as that I think the sash is just too wide. It distracts from the sleekness of the dress and your figure. I’d try a thinner sash, maybe something with a little sparkliness to it that isn’t just a straight band, but that’s just my taste.

You look AMAZINGGGG! I would kill for your curves! My lack of hips is actually what keeps me from even considering that kind of dress for myself. Rock it 🙂

I played around a bit in Photoshop. Do you like this any better?
ETA: I kept the dimensions of your body exactly the same. I just changed the dress. 😀
FYI, I made the sash thinner, and also made the bodice come up a bit higher to enlongate the torso. Both of these things should be well within the realm of what your seamstress can do, assuming the inner lining is basic bridal satin (which is what it looks like).

@Loupyloo: The sash is too shiny and contrasts w. the lace so I am immediately drawn to that part of you. It doesn’t look bad per se, but something is a little bit off. Could you do a thinner lace sash maybe?
You have a lovely thin waist but I am thinking the light satin sash might not be working.
This is a minute thing though.. you look lovely, dress is gorgeous, but you did say to be honest lol.

You are beautiful in the dress, but I would try on a best like the one suggested just to see what you think. If something feels off to you enough to have you asking, then listen to yourself. You do NOT look too curvy/ hippy. You look amazing!

i think it looks perfect!

I like it with the thinner sash.
