Ok – All my life I haver thought fake flowers were cheesy but I REALLY wanted a topiary to decorate the HUGE stone fireplace in my reception venue and green just didnt fit into the color scheme I have devised for my wedding and and they are waaay to expensive for my budget to buy freah flower ones so…. I came up with these White Hydrangea topiaries in Grey/White damask pots – not too shabby – or is it?

This is some of the best DIY faux flower decor I’ve seen. Fantastic job. I love how full they look.

It was pretty simple actually but ended up costing more than I had thought (even fake flowers cost a lot)
I made these with just 4 items:
- Awo planters that matched my color scheme and decor theme (Big Lots)
- Two premade topiary forms (AC Moore) This has the green foam that fits in the base – the stick and the ball on top
- Two moss rounds to cover the top of the topiary form down in the planter (Michaels)
- About 16 stems of fake hydrangeas 9Michaels)
I had to cut down the base of the form to fit in the planter I had chosen – I just used a srteak knife for this
I cut the moss rounds with regular scissors to fit in the pot – I also had to cut a slit in it to get it around the stick in the center ( I glued this down to the form since the moss round had white batting in it to make it thicker and I didnt want that to show)
I cut all of the hydrangea “bunches” off of the stem leaving as much as I could in length to stick into the topiary form *cut these on a pointy angle* it will make it easier to get them into the foam form! I didnt use glue, they go in snug (just maybe a sewing thimble to help push them into the topiary form – this was the only part that was a “pia” or maybe I just have really weak fingers)
