@MM423: WOW, first of all, big hugs to you.  I can imagine what you’re feeling, and am thinking hopeful and good thoughts for you today!  If she is contracted with you, then you SHOULD be okay but with the things I’ve seen/heard on the boards, it’s possible she’ll bail and then you’ll have to start looking for a backup plan.  Fortunately, 2 months out, you should be able to send out an SOS to florists with enough time for them to get everything together.  So sorry you had to find out like that!  I found out 2 weeks prior to my wedding that the coordinator at my wedding left her job (and she never called me or contacted me…until she saw my Yelp post.) – luckily everything worked out great for us!  So that being said, I’m thinking optimistic thoughts for you today and just want you to know that everything will be okay!

@MM423:  Oh geeze, that’s awful.  I’m sorry to hear that.  🙁  Would you mind sending me a PM with the lady’s name?  As another Dallas bee, I’m curious.

I would try to stay calm until she gets back to you (difficult, I know).  Like your FI said, if things don’t work with her, you probably still have enough time before the wedding to get things set with a florist.  You may even be able to still hire a new DOC.

If there is anything I can do to help, be it new vendor reviews, or even if you suddenly need a pair of extra hands at the last minute to help DIY your flowers, let me know.  Best of luck!

Wow, that’s tough- sorry to hear about this adding to your stress level! Part-time job or not, any coordinator should respond to your email promptly (she probably has a smart phone), so if you don’t hear back after contacting her that’s not okay. If she doesn’t respond quickly now, is that really going to change over the next 2 months?

I think you have plenty of time to find a florist, which is what I would recommend doing. Also, like GreenEyedMoon I would be willing to help you in a pinch! I’m not a florist, but I’m crafty and worked as a wedding coordinator for awhile, so I could definitely help you figure things out for the rehearsal and day of.

Whatever you do, don’t stress! You have plenty of time to work things out (as long as you act now!).

@MM423: Have you given the DOC any money as a deposit?  If you did, hopefully she plans on fufilling her existing agreements and then maybe just get out of the business.  You definitely should check in with her by phone or email soon.

If you don’t get a response – you probably need to quickly move forward to look for alternatives just in case she does bail.

Good Luck!

Please keep us posted on how this turns out.  I have a vendor that I hired as well and am sort of going through the same thing as you!

@MM423: Out of curiosity, what did the scathing review say? “Did a poor job on flowers” is a totally different story than, say, “didn’t show up to my wedding until three hours after it started when she wandered in, drunk and unshowered” :).

@MM423: Aww, I wish I could come out to Dallas to help you out!  I used to live in Austin, so maybe that would have almost been do-able. 😉  Remember to keep breathing and even if this doesn’t work out, we are all here to help you devise a back up plan!
