My future husband decided to let me say exactly what I wanted and then we’d choose some elements together. Well, due to the fact that I ended up wanting a stone that is very hard to find now, it took ages just to find the stone! The week I finally found it I was kind of giving up hope that I’d ever find it and was sad that I might need to move on and choose another type of gem. From moment one I decided I did not want a diamond as the center stone but a colored gemstone. Initially I thought about a sapphire but then fell in love with spinels, especially pink ones! Then trouble started as good quality spinel, especially red and pink is pretty darn hard to find. And when available, pretty expensive too. So we started contacting gem cutters left and right and finally, out of pure luck or destiny I believe, I found the perfect stone while searching Roger Dery’s available beauties! The only reason why I was able to get my hands on it before any of the Pricescopers did (lol) was because the picture Roger had did NOT do any justice to the gem! It even looked a very weird purple with no saturation.
Anyway, after we got the stone and decided to keep it, we also decided to go the custom ring route. Long story short, a week and a half after the first contact with the jeweler, I was called in to go see the design. I thought he was going to show me a CAD, but turns out, he felt so confident in having gotten exactly what I wanted that he skipped it and went into production. When I got there he had the ring! Og course a very rough version of what it will be when everything is set and polished, double claw prongs finished and also the sides tucked under the top. But I am sooo excited and wanted to share with you bees! 🙂
