I think in order to acheive that colour you would have to bleach your hair (any lightening will use bleach).  It is a pretty colour tho 🙂

Go for it, I have been coloring my hair on and off for over 20 years now. I am a natural blonde and have been all kinds of colors.  In fact here are 2 pictures one of my blonde from Sept than to what I am now..

@eecuadrado:  I’d kill to have gorgeous hair like yours. Grass is always greener, no? 🙂

But yeah, you’d have to lift color via bleach to get that lighter color you’re after.

you would have to bleach unfortunately. And that does do a number on your hair! I’ve done it before. What if you got some lighter color extensions?

Yep, agreed with the PP who said you’ll still have to bleach it.  I am actually planning to dye mine this color after my October wedding, so I’m slowly dying it lighter and lighter shades of brown (it’s currently dark brown and I’m naturally blonde) to prepare my hair for the transition.

For what it’s worth, I’d wait until after your wedding to make any major changes like this (if that’s actually your wedding date).

@eecuadrado:  I have very very thick hair but no there is no real damage, but than again I use high quality products on it. It is a tad dry but that is normal with coloring of any kind.

In fact most people including stylists have a hard time believing that it is colored…

I wouldn’t recommend it.  A year or so ago I tried going ombre (my natural color is close to yours)…well the pieces that were lightened got super dry and brittle.  I also feel like the lightned pieces got tangled more easily.  Anyways, I ended up doing back to solid dark brown at the following appointment.  The lightening started showing through, and it is still dry.  THANKFULLY, since it was just an ombre dye, and not my whole head, those pieces have been trimmed off.  But seriously, I couldn’t imagine if it were my whole head.  I think you have gorgeous NATURAL hair.  No need to mess it up with dyes and such. 🙂
